Since my last visit some nice improvements to the menu and ambience. Very comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. A delightful new addition to the menu is the appetizer of seared albacore. Happy to see a noodle dish that was needed for an Asian birthday celebration. The rest of the meal was hit and miss. Mostly miss. Sashimi options were limited to hamachi, maguro or sake. The hamachi served was all fatty belly. Oily and strong. Disappointed. The unagi was satisfying but not great. Godzilla roll would have been fabulous, even with the tired salmon component hiding in sauce, had the soft shell crab been freshly cooked before assembly and not days earlier. I’ve always gauged the quality of a sushi bar by the tamago and the miso. These both hit on mediocre for me. Tamago seemed to be a purchased product rather than house made. And lest I come off as snooty I must reiterate that my rating is still high. I’ll certainly return again. The service received was excellent.

We had udon and bulgogi, both very good! Service was fast on an off-season Sunday, although there were several other tables. You have to walk up the stairs from the embarcadero to get inside (the elevator is currently out of order). Beautiful bat views from the dining room and sushi bar. Will definitely come back!

First time trying Umi. We enjoyed it. Food is 5/5 fresh, good portion, flavorful, wide variety of selections, from traditional japanese menu to modern “Cali” options. There are some Korean options too. Service is great too Alexa did a
good job servicing muliple tables, very friendly, attentive and prompt. Atmosphere, casual, relax, clean. Parking can be a bit challenging.

For Memorial Day weekend, it was nice that it wasn’t over packed! It was very quiet having booths which is nice. I ordered albacore just to test before ordering. Unfortunately, our waiter (not the person who actually delivered our sushi) didn’t want to ask the sushi chef what his selection was for the lunch special. I am sure the chef would’ve advised. We left because we didn’t feel like the waiter wanted to actual wait on us. The sushi and presentation was fantastic. Will try again when I visit as the chef and sushi was great!

One of the best sushi restaurants in the area! I ordered a chirashi bowl and got 11 thickcut and fresh pieces of fish. It was tender and succulent and the total was only $23! Highly worth checking out! The service is always top-tier and the ambiance is great with an amazing view of Morro rock.

The restaurant is located on the second floor. It is nice, quiet, low light, and cozy. It’s not a huge restaurant but the atmosphere and view are nice. The service is wonderful, and the people were sweet and helpful. I have to say the fried rice with shrimp was delicious. The best sashimi i had ever. So she was great.I would definitely recommend this place. The bathroom was a nice touch, so I had to add a picture. LO.L

We had a business dinner at Umi with 6 of us. Service was attentive and quick. The sushi was 5 stars – some of the thickest cuts on the nigiri while also being super fresh. We got the sushi boat, yellow tail collar, among many rolls.

1. Delicious. The fish was fresh. The food was filling and the wasabi was also fresh and subtle.
2. Great vegetarian options. My wife had the best Sushi related meal ever, including our trip to Japan. Noodles, tempura, and she loved the Yuzu sake.
3. Owned up to issue. I had something in my sake bottle. They saw it, owned it, and replaced it. I love when restaurants own up to an issue.

Myleigh (sp?) our server was outstanding, especially the sake issue. Honestly, I would come back to Morro Bay just to eat here.
