I recently hosted an important business dinner at Akuma Ramen & Sushi Bar with a group of six. The setting itself was inviting, and the atmosphere had a modern, comfortable vibe that made it suitable for both casual dining and professional meetings. The presentation of the space definitely gives off the right first impression.

However, the service experience did not align with the level I expected—especially for a business dinner. We were seated and left waiting for a significant amount of time before anyone came to take our order. Eventually, I had to personally walk up to one of the staff members just so we could place it. For a table of six during an important meeting, that delay created unnecessary disruption and shifted the flow of our conversation.

As someone who frequently dines out and reviews restaurants, this is not something I typically experience. Timely service is a major part of hospitality, especially when guests are clearly there for a structured occasion like a business dinner. Attentiveness and communication go a long way.

That said, once the food arrived, it was well-presented and flavorful. The sushi was fresh, the ramen was satisfying, and the overall quality of the dishes reflected the potential this restaurant has. The kitchen did its part.

My hope is that management places more emphasis on front-of-house coordination and attentiveness. With stronger service standards, Akuma Ramen & Sushi Bar could truly elevate the entire dining experience and match the quality of its food.

I believe in supporting businesses and offering constructive feedback. I would consider giving them another opportunity in the future, but improved service would make all the difference.

I recently chose Akuma Ramen & Sushi Bar as the location for an important business dinner with six guests. When you’re hosting a professional meeting over dinner, every detail matters — especially service. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in a way that was both surprising and disappointing.

After being seated, our table waited an extended period of time without being greeted or having our order taken. There was no initial acknowledgment, no check-in, and no communication regarding delays. Eventually, I had to get up from the table and approach a staff member myself just so we could place our order. As someone who frequently dines out and evaluates businesses, this is not a standard I’m accustomed to — especially for a group of our size.

In hospitality, attentiveness is not a luxury — it’s a baseline expectation. When guests are clearly there for a business engagement, timing and coordination are critical. The delay disrupted the flow of our meeting and created an awkward dynamic in what should have been a seamless professional setting. It’s concerning that a table of six could go unnoticed for that long without proactive service.

To be fair, once the food arrived, the quality itself was solid. The sushi was fresh, the ramen was flavorful, and presentation was respectable. The kitchen delivered. However, great food does not compensate for inattentive front-of-house service. A restaurant’s experience is holistic — ambiance, service, timing, and hospitality all matter equally.

I share this feedback not out of negativity, but because businesses grow through honest critique. There is clear potential here, but improved management oversight and stronger service standards are necessary. Staff awareness, table monitoring, and basic communication would have dramatically changed this experience.

When hosting clients, partners, or colleagues, reliability matters. I hope Akuma Ramen & Sushi Bar takes service more seriously moving forward, because with stronger execution, it could truly match the quality of its food.

At this time, I would be cautious about hosting another professional dinner here unless I see meaningful improvements in service consistency.

I love Asian food too so I make it my mission to try out every the food in every area. It will be sometime before I ever have the time to come back and give this location a try.

The sushi honestly isn’t very good. Spicy tuna roll and dragon roll were okay. Yellowtail sashimi felt like it was just frozen and 80% dethawed.

Truffle garlic ramen is really good, especially the two pieces of meat. Just wish there was more meat.

The pan-fried pork Gyoza was super good, probably the best thing here.

Takoyaki good but would like a little more octopus inside.

The macaron ice cream was freezer-burnt, tasted decent, nothing special. Vanilla was the best flavor.

Happy hour menu prices are very solid. I wish the happy hour menu showed the ingredients of each roll so you didn’t have to cross-check with the larger menu.

Food came out very quickly.

Tables a little sticky/dirty.

Akuma Sushi and Ramen in West Hollywood is a spot I genuinely enjoy, even if I cannot quite give it five stars. The atmosphere is cool and fun, with a lively vibe that makes it a good choice for casual nights out. The outdoor patio is one of the best features, perfect for people watching and enjoying the weather. Inside the decor feels a bit dated, but the energy of the place keeps it from feeling tired.

The sushi itself is really not bad. In fact, it is quite good, especially considering the price point. In a city like Los Angeles, where A+ sushi restaurants set an incredibly high bar, Akuma holds its own as a very solid option without charging the sky high prices of the elite places. Rolls like the crunchy spicy tuna and baked salmon roll are satisfying and fun. The sashimi is fresh, and the specialty rolls are creative without being over the top.

Their ramen is also worth trying, with the tonkotsu being rich and flavorful. The happy hour is another strong draw, offering discounted rolls, appetizers, and drinks that make it a great value.

I have been here multiple times and will definitely go back again. It is not trying to compete with the most exclusive sushi spots in town, and that is exactly its appeal. You get good food, good energy, and good value, which makes Akuma a solid choice in West Hollywood. Four stars.

The best hidden gem in Weho, writing this review I almost want to keep it a secret to myself, but I also want this place to be around for a long time. Easy parking, super fast service, good team that know the regulars well. Important to note it’s dog friendly and kid friendly. With safe, nicely tucked in outdoor seating. My son had his first sushi here, and he’s been coming here since he was 6months old. They make thin small slices for kids. Food is decent, well-priced. Hot sake all day. Akuma roll doesn’t disappoint.

Great sushi, the staff was pleasant and attentive. Our food was on the table in 10 minutes. Dine-in and patio seating. Nice music playing overhead. Very clean restrooms, custom artwork painted on the walls plus anime/japanese posters. Great vibe!

Can’t believe I have lived in Weho for so long without going to Akuma! Great sushi and ramen spot. We tried the pan fried pork gyoza, the rainbow roll, and the Akuma roll. All were fantastic! The Akuma roll was really special with four different types of fish. Very cool artwork inside, nice patio, and huge parking lot.
I will be back to try the truffle ramen!

Love that there is a small parking area.

This was an average experience.

It’s super cute inside, I give ambience 5 stars.

Average service.

I had the pork ramen, maybe one of the creamiest ramens I’ve ever had.

They have a good happy hour menu.

We shared fried dumplings, spicy tuna rice, edamame, deep jalapeño, and a crispy salmon roll.

I love this place so much, it’s my favorite ramen spot but now I’m questioning it. I ordered take out from their lunch menu and they forgot to give me the spicy sauce for my ramen and I’m sure they charged me for it. And the noodles are all stuck together, doesn’t look good and doesn’t taste the greatest either. I’m so disappointed bc I love this place but I’ll never order take out again. I’ll dine in or not at all. I wish I could return this ramen. It’s not good.

We have been trying to go here for some time now but every time we tried to visit it appeared closed and hours wasn’t listed. Well finally made it in and everything was great. Food was good, we tried the garlic truffle ramen and the Akuma ramen that was very spicy & very good. We also had a couple of rolls including the akuma roll. Big fighting game fan so appreciated the streetfighter art on some of the walls. Not badly priced either. Nothing food wise was wow but again everything including service was great. Will come again.

The food is always on point and so good. We eat here at least few times a month and have not had an issues at all. The owner is so sweet and accommodating wish we had more people in West Hollywood like the owner of Akuma. You must try the ice cream maccaron the green tea is my favorite.
