We had a fabulous night here! All the food and drinks were delicious, imaginative and fun. The staff was absolutely delightful, and the atmosphere was wonderful. We are looking forward to coming back and trying all the menu items! Excited to have more sexy Italian options in this neighborhood (very much needed)

Really enjoyed my time here! The service was amazing. We sat at the bar. All the appetizers tasted good, the calamari and the artichoke were to die for. I wish they sold the marmalade for the calamari to go. The donut though was the best donut I’ve eaten in 8 years. I would come back just for the donut alone. My only comment is I wish they had more pasta dishes and more protein to add to the pasta. Other than that, can’t wait to come back.

Having been to every iteration of this space for the past few years (burger shop, sandwiches, salad bar), Hey Luigi is by far the best and most welcomed reinvention!

What a lovely space and addition to the neighborhood! Definitely a vibey cocktail bar with great food options. Loved the calamari, potato croquettes, bucatini pasta! Must try the fresh doughnuts for dessert.

Extra kudos to Natane who was knowledgeable, patient, and super sweet! We loved having her as our server and will definitely be back. Hope that Hey Luigi keeps up the high level of service and quality of food!

This was the best meal I’ve had in Portland in so long. I used to own a cocktail design consultancy business and these are some of the most complex and well balanced cocktails I’ve had in so long. The food communicated a level of intentionality that left me in awe. My husband and I sat at the bar with Grace and obviously loved our time with her. She is such a gem. And if it matters to you (like it does to us) the queer family rocks the front of house. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot. We are excited to become new regulars.

Upscale bar with delicious food and well crafted cocktails. The smokey Aperol Spritz was delightful with the unexpected rosemary sprig and the Negroni perfectly mixed (served with 1 large ice cube so as not to delute the beverage). Food is reminiscent of a Florence bar with excellent Blue Fin Carpaccio, Insalta with lemon, parm and pine nuts, and Mushroom Risotto to warm your stomach. Although short, wine list is quality wines suitable to pair with every dish. Without hesitation, we’ll be back for another tasty, satisfying, and leisurely afternoon.

Incredible! I was a little leery of trying this place given the low amount of reveiws but it did not disappoint. We had the Mela-zoni cocktail which was delicious, a perfect combination of cream, sour and sweet that complimented the gin well. We ordered the oyster dip for a appetizer and it was just as unique and tasty as the cocktail. It had a smokey creamy taste with dill and a little bit of heat. I do not tolerate spice much but this was perfect amount to add to the dish and not over power the other flavors. My husband had the all Americana which was tasty, it would most be compare to a fancy spicey spaghetti. He had shrimp added which was cooked perfectly and brought on the side to compliment the dish. I had the tuna carpaccino with house bread which was incredible! The tuna was delicious and seasoned to perfection with lemon, salt, olive oil and capers. The bread was clearly fresh and homemade, it was soft and fluffy and a very generous portion, also served with olive oil. All of the dishes were incrediblely tasty and unique. The ingredients were fresh and you could tell intentionally picked to pair perfectly with all other ingredients in the dish. They also brought us a welcome bite and a sweet bite after the meal which was very thoughtful and also were equally as delicious. The atmosphere was delightful with mood lighting and candles. Overall it was an incredible dinner. We were very pleased with our service, the food and drinks as well as the environment. Highly recommend.

We live across the street and have been excited to add Hey Luigi to a few of the neighborhood spots we love. Unfortunately, our first visit fell flat.

We came in around 10:30 PM for drinks and a bite (they’re open until midnight). After our server took our order and dropped our food and first round, we weren’t checked on again, not once. Meanwhile, the bar was actively serving, and the couple next to us received multiple rounds during the time we sat there. While the kitchen was closed, we would have liked more cocktails. No-one returned to our table until the bartender dropped off our check, and that was that.

We’re easygoing and have both worked in the service industry, so we’re usually very understanding, but this felt strangely inattentive. The space is beautiful

This was a super mixed experience but restaurants need constructive feedback.

The good: Service is top notch no doubt.

The bad: You guys are so so close to having crazy good food but every single dish… just had something off. The prosciutto for example. The actual prosciutto was like eating a leather boot. So stringy. Go import something better. Everything else on the plate was great. The Burrata was fine. But like you don’t need to blanket it in so much mint.

The spaghetti… I cant believe I have to say this but this is the first time in my life I had bad spaghetti. Even bad spaghetti is good. The noodles were the best noodles ever. But that sauce? Was so freaking salty it would’ve dissolved a snail. The pepper or whatever you used. It’s just too much. It is so close to being amazing. Which sucks because you guys would get absolutely dominated by other Italian places right now. Seriously. Go eat at your competitors in Portland.

All your dishes are a couple notes off a symphony. This isn’t a subjective opinion. I really Believe they are. Take a good look at this and you’ll see.

The ugly: it’s impossible to justify the 90$ bill when half the food was disgusting. You guys aren’t as good as other Italian restaurants and right now there’s way better options around this area. It sounds like this building has had multiple tenants. You’re going to be just another tenant if you can’t nail the food. Everyone has great cocktails and wine.

We hope you do. We eat at Italian restaurants basically every weekend and variety is always a good thing.

Edit: the owner was classy enough to address concerns with appreciated candor and taking the feedback with grace and not defensively and with genuine concern. It is rare to not be gaslit when you eat something that isn’t right on a review that is kind of scathing. Major ups to the owner. The score changed to reflect the effort to satisfy. the feedback stays so everyone can see what integrity looks like. It sounds like just a couple of honest mistake owned by the restaurant and explained concisely. We will try this again with them someday :). Thank you owner.

Tried Hey Luigi a few days ago and really enjoyed it! Grace, our bartender/server, was awesome — super friendly and had great recommendations. The complimentary snack before dinner was a nice surprise and really good.

Our tuna dish was a bit too salty, but we get that they’re a new restaurant and still dialing things in. The cocktails were amazing and the rest of our food was excellent.

Definitely feels like an up-and-coming spot, and we’re excited to go back soon. Props to Grace!
