This is a neighborhood gem. It’s a bar with a huge variety of beers and amazing food. They’ve been in business since 1931 so closing in on a century.
For a bar, they have a nice food menu. They’re famous for their burgers. My wife and I split the one pound burger, medium rare. We had the “Chesapeake” burger. It’s topped with cheese and crab imperial. It was amazing, and half the one pound burger was plenty.
The burger comes with delicious fries. They split our order into two plates for us. This is a service that I’ve encountered before, but only in much more expensive restaurants.
Our server mentioned that on Mondays, the one pound burger comes with a $5 discount.
There are lots of delectable looking desserts available, but we’re trying to lose weight, so we didn’t have any.
I entirely recommend Alonso’s on Cold Spring Lane.

Great local spot to catch a game and get a bite to eat. We reserved a table for our party of 6 on a NFL playoff game night and they were very accommodating. They do cram a lot of people into the small space, FYI. They used to have an upstairs but don’t seem to regularly use it much anymore. The place was packed and they only had one waitress working which was odd for a night they knew would be busy. With one waitress, the service could be slow which is no fault of hers. The food was all pretty good. Decent bar food. One of our burgers was ordered at medium rare and came out well done. The waitress took it back and the kitchen made us a new one.

Been here multiple times and love it, right near daughter’s college. It’s a dive; one of the places where you can smell the fryer from around the corner, but my family loves it. I have tried many different items; nothing has disappointed me yet. We have avoided any wait, going always at odd times, but I can imagine it gets very busy.

All I can say is wow! New to the neighborhood. Was craving pasta and Alonso’s popped up. The Cajun pasta was absolutely delicious. The layered chocolate mousse was so decadent. The staff was helpful. I will be back to try a burger!! I hear they’re known for that!

What has happened to alonzo’s? I ordered a turkey Reuben ( a Rachel) and this is the slop that they gave me. this is nothing like what a turkey Reuben is supposed to be. I used to order Rubens from them all the time and they were delicious. A turkey Reuben is supposed to have turkey pastrami and be a sumptuous sandwich. This was extremely dry pieces of turkey breast with basically very little else on it. The sandwich was inedible. I guess they have lost us for the next couple years. Also we couldn’t call our phone order in because they “couldn’t find the phone.” Smh
