The food is great; the service is wonderful. I had Chicken Saltembocca, which was so good that I plan to have it again when we visit in early January (see photo).
Several other folks had the Eggplant Parm and raved about it.
The menu prices are quite reasonable.
It’s a BYO restaurant, so don’t forget to bring your favorite wine.
Since the service is first class, too, Sal D’s is an all-around great dining experience.
We keep coming back because we love that Sal’s, while it’s now located in the suburbs, still retains the essence of a classic Chambersburg eatery. The food is still old school delicious Italian, you get value for your money and the service is friendly and helpful. Last night, for example, I had their Chicken Caprese — boneless chicken breast in a white wine sauce on a bed of spinach and roasted red peppers topped with Mozzarella cheese (see photo) with a side of pasta (photo) and a salad (photo) all for just $28. Crunchy Italian bread is included (photo). I mention the bread because some area restaurants are now charging for bread (unbelievable!).
Back again for another great Sal D Saturday night. This time I chose Chicken Marsala, a classic, with four (!) chicken cutlets swimming in a delicious Marsala wine sauce and a ton of mushrooms (see photo). Yum!

We had a great evening on 2/18 with Jose and Gloria. Food and service is always top notch. As a Ewing restaurant manager this is my go to spot with my family!

There was music at the restaurant when we arrived last night and we were seated adjacent to the speaker. The music was good but just too loud. We were a party of six and wanted to chat, but it was impossible. We asked if the singers could lower the sound but it never happened. The dining room is way too small to handle that decibel of music. The food was delicious as usual but I left the restaurant with ringing in my ears from the deafening music. If you want an intimate dining experience, make sure you call and find out if there will be entertainment.

New Year’s Eve dinner, upon arrival the greeting was warm, friendly. Great table prepared for our party of 6! We felt so welcomed. Wonderful, warm and friendly waitress. One minor hiccup with one app that was handled beautifully. Our food was delicious and plentiful. Dessert was scrumptious. Very pretty restaurant. Looking forward to going back!

So close to a five-star rating for this place. Started with an absolutely beautiful seasonal peach salad and a stuffed artichoke done in the traditional style. Had the lobster ravioli next, but the sauce seemed to have way too much lemon in it and it was kind of an aggressive flavor with the ravioli and the crab meat on top was a little too cold for the dish finished with a creme brulee but only one small portion of it was actually brulee’d on the top. Everything else was very soft, although the flavor was there. Was there for a show and the place was packed from wall to wall and it felt like maybe they were a little understaffed for the event, and the waitress was getting noticeably frustrated. Will definitely be back and give this place a second chance.

This restaurant serves delicious, authentic Italian food that is consistently outstanding – We dined here 5 times prior to posting this review and each time our meals were superb – My partner suffers from GERD and his food issues are always happily addressed – Shout out to Joanne, a stellar server on every level who we always request – We continually say we will try “something different” but always end up ordering the Wedge Salad, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, Linguine with Clam Sauce (white), and Zuppa de Pesce or Penne con Broccoli Rabe & Salciccia – The atmosphere is quiet and elegant and the complimentary bread is warm and crusty – We look forward to our next dining experience here this coming Saturday!

We were a party of six on the night before Easter. We had appetizers, salads and everyone had a different meal. The atmosphere, service and food were exceptional. I can’t remember the last time I was at a restaurant where everyone’s meal was absolutely perfect! I haven’t stopped talking about our experience to others. Thank you for a lovely dinner. We will be back!

Look at my review history I’m not a big fan of leaving less than stellar reviews and I am by no means boujee but figured I’d help out the next party of 12 to come to this restaurant. Waitress huffed and puffed throughout the service and when asked for suggestions or what was good etc. BYOB but didn’t offer or open the bottles of wine which is typical for other BYOB Italian restaurants I’ve been too. Appetizers were pointlessly small even for a party of two at that price point. 6 little clams casinos the size of half dollars each. Bread with cheese and marinara was good but hard to mess that up. Carpaccio was good. Fried calamari was what I would’ve expected from TGI Fridays. Bruschetta was good. Caesar salad (upcharge) and house salad were good. Chicken parm with vodka instead of marinara was made with marinara and they just put vodka sauce on top and the entire meal was flavorless with the sauce being barely pink. Portion size was good with 2 big cutlets. No kids menu but the kids meal (6 big tenders and like 12 fries) came out 20 minutes after the main entrees and was hot as if they forgot about it. The items on the specials menu looked good. Atmosphere is nice and intimate.
Missed multiple items that were ordered. Not an experience you expect for $400 with a tip already included. Maybe better if you don’t have a party of 12. Offered a nice presentation of the desserts to show you what they were which was nice. Picture of the chicken francaise.

We had Nonna’s Crispy Seasoned chicken and the Pane Ripieno Di Salsiccia delivered, and we could not have been happier. Some delivery doesn’t hold up, but this certainly did.
