Been a day or two since I visited the square In Gainesboro TN. Wow. Things change, then again, it’s like time stood still. A friend from Celina told me we had to go to this fabulous restaurant where she likes to enjoy a meal there almost weekly. I didn’t argue. Love new places to eat and enjoy and share an honest review. Soooo, off we go. It was a week night. Not super crowded except for a celebration going on with at least 25 people! The birthday joy for a lovely woman was fun in itself to enjoy the laughter that radiated from the long tables!!! The host for the evening was gracious and accommodating and treated my friend like a welcomed family member arriving for a supper. Sweet tea, was the drink order. And we scoured the menu looking over a great variety of dishes. Ummmm, they had me at fried oysters! My friend had the walnut Georgia peach salad that could have fed 4 people easily and my guest from Boston MA, could not resist the temptation of a cheeseburger. The wait time for our meals arrival was short. We dug in immediately and savored every last bite. I ate a dozen fried Oysters. Man. Seasoned just right. The oysters were not overpowering and had a lite seafood taste with a nicely fried batter. Not greasy at all. The salad with the dark mixed greens had more walnuts than I would have ever expected and generous portions of peach slices. Though I did not taste test the salad the presentation made me want to try it on my next trip back to this hidden gem on the square In Gainesboro. Unassumingly charming and woodenesque building, dating back to yesteryear, the atmosphere and soft warm lighting made for a table full of conversation and coziness. What a delight. Worth the drive to enjoy a moment back in time on the square in Gainesboro. My Boston guest was so amazed at the warmth and hospitality that he gazed and people watched as much as he enjoyed his burger! Put this small, quaint, efficient eatery on your must eat there list. I will eat there again on my next trip back.

Me & my fiance went here for our three year anniversary and we were not disappointed. I got a french union soup which was delicious and a shrimp po boy which was huge. My fiance got the rainbow trout. Everything came out hot and delicious. The staff was super friendly. The waitress even gave us a banana pudding to go for our anniversary. We’ll definitely come back.

What a great restaurant! Very good food and excellent service. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced dining experience you need to try The Stolen Coin. I would recommend making a reservation versus just stopping in as this place is busy! We celebrated our 44th anniversary and wanted to have a good dining experience. You did not disappoint! We started with the shrimp cocktail…fresh and delicious. My girl ordered the scallops, they were also delicious! The cook & seasoning on the scallops were perfect & they were fresh and melted in your mouth. I ordered the Fried Fisherman’s Platter. Lots of shrimp some oysters and a huge piece of catfish. They served it with house made remoulade sauce that was delicious! After dinner we went upstairs to the bar and had a drink. Great environment and the 2 bartenders were very friendly and fun to watch and talk to. I can’t wait to return for some fresh halibut! Until then cheers!

The pecan-crusted salmon was perfect, and I love that I got steamed broccoli with it. The upstairs bar area atmosphere is top notch (can we say corgi races?!) and the bartenders were super friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely come back and try some oysters.

My husband and I absolutely loved our dining experience here, we were guided to seating upstairs near the bar and it was lovely. Staff were attentive, friendly and fast, we got our food in a timely manner and drinks were kept topped off. We ordered the chicken entree and corn cake appetizer, our only mild critique was on the corn cakes as they were seemingly very over cooked, dry and hard to bite through. Generally in my experience corn cakes are soft, have a decent amount of moisture and are supple. I am in the culinary field as I have attended and graduated from a French culinary college so I only mention the cuisine as I always wish to see a restaurant putting its best foot forward. Back to the chicken entree, oh my goodness beyond delicious! The meat was tender, delicious and flavorful! Pan gravy comes atop the chicken and it was out of this world, so delicious and reminded me of when my grandma would make a pan gravy for our family dinners. Sides to our dish were absolutely gorgeous, dirty rice and coleslaw were a hit! I highly recommend visiting this establishment in Gainesboro as it will leave a lasting positive impression on your mind and pallet. My husband and I will be visiting again soon!

We remembered they have a bar upstairs, yes they kind of have like a hidden bar in the back and upstairs. Theresa was our server/bartender and was very accommodating. Her suggestions were spot on.
Deep-fried cheese curds, get this with butter scotch dipping sauce. I know I would’ve never put this combination together, but it was very good. See at 71 you can still learn new things.
I ordered the full rack of St. Louis Style ribs. Split half of it with a friend and we both still took some home. The atmosphere made it very easy to talk to other people, so the three of us had a great time eating and talking to others there. The plates are quite large, and even the appetizers were a generous amount. My biggest regret is, I was so impressed. I forgot to take pictures. But now we have an excuse to go back.

We stopped at this place for a late lunch on 04/06/2023 while in town visiting family. We were not disappointed! The place is a quaint little dinner room with a bar upstairs which was not open at the time, but was said to open a few moments after we were seated.
We were told that they had huge Po’ boys by a patron with whom we spoke to outside. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and seated. The only thing better than the service was the food! I had the oyster Po’ boy and Buttercup had a delicious burger. The Po’ boy was huge and full of delicious oysters!!! The burger was quite tasty, as were their fries. Buttercup had the banana pudding which was tasty, but seemed to have a few slices of banana that had sat around a little too long. For me, not a big deal, but Buttercup tends to have a more sensitive palate. All in all, we can’t complain. I’m going back just for the Po’ boy!!!

My husband and I did a impromptu day date and randomly came across this hidden gem! We road the motorcycle from Hartsville and the views were amazing and so relaxing. The restaurant itself is just a gem. The people in the town were so kind and welcoming. The staff was so attentive and actually looked to enjoy their job! The food, oh my word, the cheese curds were to die for! Also, the price! 2 beers each and two appetizers was less than $40! The quality itself was worth itself in gold. We will be back!
