I love Maria’s restaurant, they have the best pupusas in San Mateo. The staff are always friendly too! I recommend trying rice flower pupusas if you’ve never had them before. If you eat em while they’re hot, they’re as good as regular pupusas and it’s a nice change of pace. Also, their horchata de moro is great, but their horchata al coco was surprisingly even better!

Food is very delicious, Friendly Stuff, Great Service, Clean, Many options. Authentic Salvadorian food. ( If You are on vacation and drive near San Mateo definitely You need to stop at Maria’s and get a nice Breakfast or Pupusas.

Food is good too bad they don’t open on time. They have to fix their open time in google maps. We waited over 30 mins because we really wanted to eat there. At the end it was a waste of time. Even though we knocked the door they couldnt come out and clarify their open time. And they never answered the phone either. Really unprofessional.

The PUPUSAS were Delicious… but the restaurant did NOT meet the Request for 6 Well toasted(VIEN DORADAS) Pupusas. We provided the restaurant with a advanced order of 30 minutes. We had to wait another 20 minutes upon arrival. The Food Order was 6 PUPUSAS well toasted. I will make the same orde at AMERICAN HOUSE to see if they can Satisfy a Customer .

Solid pupusas with a large variety of flavors. I took some home and topped them with kimchi and it took them to another level.

A place like home for dining. I loved the rice, it was cooked perfectly. It’s soft and fluffy, the texture is on point for my taste. The fragrance and taste were not overpowering, which made it go very well with the fried chicken and beans.

I’ve been here 2-3 times in the past and this place by far has the most delicious pupusas in San Mateo. Most places skimp on the filling, not these guys, the filling just oozes out begging to be enjoyed
Had the atol de elote and it was nothing special. This review is only based on the pupusas.

It’s the best Salvadorian restaurant. I’m jealous that I don’t live closer to eat all the yummy food. As a Salvadorean, you can’t go wrong with any option. Eventually, you will find the beat dish for you and come back for more, no doubt. The menu is based on pictures, which more restaurants should do. The service displays the hospitality of the nation. I look forward for more people to enjoy this place as I no longer live within meal distance.

Delicious food. Very big portions. I normally get the 3 pupuzas plate that comes with rice and beans and is two meals for me as I can only finish half. Very simple place, nothing fancy. Great for lunch, an always get a seat as there’s plenty of tables. Variety of options on the menu.
