Nice fish and chips and scampi. Only comment is wish some sauces had been given (or been made aware these were extra). Like that they did kids portions for those of us with smaller appetites.

Had cod and 2 portions of scampi with chips last night. Chips undercooked and not much flavour in the cod or the scampi. Having been a happy customer for the last 3 years we will no longer use Ashley’s as our first port of call. I telephoned to complain and was offered replacement chips however, I travel 2 miles each way so it isn’t practical to expect a customer to do a 4mile round trip ☹️

Fish and chips and curry sause was lovely here highly recommended, only thing I would say was that I ordered Gravy and was literally like water and very tasty less! But other then that 5*

Great fresh food. All of our food was cooked to order and wasn’t too greasy. We had the lunch specials as well which were perfect sized portions. The chips are fresh and not frozen and the fish was a decent size for the money. Even the pea fritters were spot on. I would highly recommend either as a local or if you’re here on holiday.

Have not been here for a long while. Stopped today for 2 fish and 1 portion of chips. Cooked to order quickly but we found to be greasy undercooked chips, fish soggy, probably cheap frozen wholesale not as advertised as fresh. Overall absolutely disgusting at £18.50

Been using Ashley’s for over 3 years…have always been excellent but my last few visits have been disappointing.
Tonight was the last chance… chips were reheated and soggy….undercooked and soft… asked for salt and vinegar but no vinegar was put on…and absolutely smothered in salt…. totally inedible.
Not sure how you can get a simple thing like cooking chips so wrong.
Batter on fish was greasy and to thick….use to be a lovely golden crisp batter….it was only 7 o’clock….not like last knockings….shame really… hopefully the owner will take notice and change things back to how they were

Very efficient and polite staff. Friday evening at around 19:00, I hardly waited 5 mins for fish and chips for 4 adults. Food was absolutely delicious; crispy fish batter not soggy at all, and plentiful crispy yet fluffy chips. Curry sauce was perfect, although I should’ve ordered two pots between 4 adults.

We popped in for fish and chips and a burger and chips while on a long walk. The fish was very tasty and not too greasy and chips were good too. The burger smelt greasy while they were cooking it but hubby said it tasted good. Sadly we did ask for two portions of chips but we only got one (they only charged for one as well) Our fault for not listening when the young lady read our order back to us. We were pleased with the taste and position size otherwise.

I don’t normally leave reviews but thought it was only fair that I share my experience, given that this place clearly has divided opinion. I popped in having tried 3 or 4 local chippies that I know of, which were all closed so I was delighted to see it was still open. The girl serving was extremely friendly and gave me directions to the beach. I’m local ish but still don’t know New Milton very well. I honestly thought I would be waiting for the food to be cooked especially as it was late at night (9-9:30pm) but it was served within moments. The chips were superb, clearly a decent quality spud had been used for the days fry and the medium portion was fair (there’s nothing worse than forcing yourself to eat the last third of a portion of chips when you’ve had enough already – I would rather have a smaller portion of quality chips than vice versa) the battered sausage was dry enough to ensure there was no oily after taste. Curry sauce was majestic but without being too fancy. Great packaging, quick service, lovely food and good value. Comfortably sitting second on my list of local chippies behind Chez Fred. Recommended
