I came across this restaurant in a social media post. Ever since then I’ve been wanting to give it a shot. We made reservations ahead of time online and that easy. In any case the food we had was great. We had the Caesar Salad with anchovies, Rib Eye, Potatoes, Carbonara Pizza, and a pasta. All of this was part of family meal package for $120. Everything was amazing. I also ordered an Old Fashion which I think was just as good. Our waitress was also very helpful and nice. My overall experience was great. I would come back here again.

Everything tasted extremely flavorful and had a satisfying texture. Service was great when we first arrived, but slowly declined as the evening went on. Atmosphere was pleasant and comfortable where both tucked in collared shirts or t-shirts and shorts alike would fit in. Overall I would come here again for the pizza and sides.

The pizza crust was perfectly crisp without it being overly crunchy. We opted for the Garlic pizza and boy was it garlic-y. We loved it. And the sides provided exceptional flavor in small packages. You could actually just eat all the sides for a meal and you’d be content.

For an entree I had the ribeye. Unfortunately, it was the least impressive dish compared to everything else we tried. There was a flavor of smoke, or something, reminiscent of the kind of flavor you’d have on a ham or bacon. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was “bad”, but I personally don’t care for that type of flavor on my steaks. Plus that flavor profile wasn’t explained or written on the menu so it caught me and a few others in our party off guard.

Service was as expected when a restaurant gets busy. It looked like there were only 3 servers running around the entire restaurant. But our food came out in nice order.

Hip Italian restaurant in Kapolei. The interior is well lit and clean. Ample seating with a bar and lanai. I’ve never had to really wait here for a seat. The staff is friendly but the wait staff can be inconsistent. The food is hearty and clearly made with passion. The pizza is great but can get a little greasy sometimes, the crust though is always perfection. The pasta is fresh. The Cesar salad is incredible. Prices are average for the island. Drinks are well made, with the lemonade being a standout. Overall, Kaploei is lacking in good unique food offerings, but Mad Bene is some of the best food you can get on this side of the island.

One of our favorite places to go. We absolutely love their their happy hour pizza price and their tiramisu is one of the best we’ve tried on the island. Like the ambience. The staff tend to be kind and you should also try the Linguine Scampi. We absolutely didn’t like the fresh mozzarella. The flavors weren’t as bold and It was absolutely gross the next day as well because the croutons were soggy so definitely not worth having.

Overall had a positive experience at Mad Bene! Looking forward to visiting again and trying more items on the menu (more in depth details of my experience below)

The restaurant has what I’d describe as upscale cozy decor with a casual dining experience. There was a little bit of a fly problem, and we spent a decent amount of the meal trying to shoo them away. We came on a Saturday during lunch to a fairly empty restaurant but extremely nice waitstaff! They spent the time to have conversations with us and made sure we understood the menu and had a good time. Food was a little slow, but the kitchen also seemed to only have max 4 people in for lunch service and maybe 4 people at the front of house.

appetizers:
The Chopped Salad was beautiful and nicely dressed. It wasn’t personally to my taste since I’m not huge on salads but my family enjoyed it.
The Caesar Salad was standard looking and teensy bit over dressed, but had good unique croutons and actual pieces of anchovy as a garnish, which I’d never seen in a Caesar before! The salad was good, if a bit peppery.
The Fritto Misto was excellent and the table really enjoyed this pick. The marinara it came with was a bit plain on its own but worked really well when eaten with the fried items.

mains:
I had the lunch special with the Pappardelle Bolognese. The ragu was good, a little lacking in depth but a solid attempt compared to what I’ve experienced in Italy.
We also shared the Mad Garlic Pizza, which had a good satisfying crust and lots of garlic. In my opinion, the dish smells better than it tastes. I’m a huge garlic girl and was looking forward to trying the pizza, but it was a little bit of a let down. However, the cook on everything in the pizza was perfect. It was very rich, verging on heavy despite being a thinner crust, so I recommend sharing if you order this!

desserts:
The tiramisu was rustic looking but delicious! A perfect, light end to the meal.
We also ordered the Olive Oil Gelato since we like trying unique ice cream flavors, and it was interesting. We added some fresh cracked black pepper to take away some of the odd earthiness the olive oil brings, and it improved the gelato in our opinions.

I haven’t had a meal that delicious, that left me that happy after everything was cleared away, in a very long time. The pizzas were fantastic (huge fan of thin crust) and the appetizers and dishes were phenomenal. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff look like they get along as a second family. The attention to detail in the service and food is top notch and I’ll definitely be coming back to share the experience again with others.

We love their happy hour specials and Take advantage of them on Pau Hana Friday’s. Our favorites are their wings, Caesar salad, and the garlic pizza but everything we’ve tried has been ono. With plenty of parking and a friendly staff it’s always a nice start to the weekend.

Oh my goodness! So good! My whole family had nothing bad to say, the food was incredible. The whole atmosphere of the place is so chill and inviting. The restaurant had a perfectly balanced blend of feminine and masculine decor and it made it not intimidating. We had an amazing time and thought everything was worth the price. The Caesar salad was unreal and the guava smoked steak was incredible. Also, the pizza was delicious! Perfect! Honestly everything was so good. I can’t wait to go back and try new things.the picture I included is honestly not very good but we were all raving about how good the food was I completely forgot to take a pic. It was wonderful.

All the food we got was Delicious. Has outdoor seating which we utilized. There was 4 of us there. For the appetizers the table had the meatballs, garlic parmesan wings and Foccacia (very delicious!). My husband had the Tagliatelle Dogana, was very tasty. I had the Linguini Scampi and it was fabulous. My son and his wife had pizzas, Margherita pizza and Carbonara pizza with poached egg. For the desert we shared the Mad Tiramisu and Chocolate Gelato…

I was so impressed by this place! Everything I had was really good.
Even though the lettuce was a little soggy, the Caesar salad was delicious! But the star appetizer was the Crispy Potato Guy (not sure how that got named.) The potatoes has such a nice texture and just enough sauce to add a little zing to it.

We ordered the Truffle Pizza (it was the pizza of the week) and it was incredible. Such a unique mix of slightly sweet and savory. Highly recommend!

Another favorite of mine is the Carbonara Pizza, but the Hot Honey was also really good.

In addition to the Truffle Pizza, their MB Old Fashioned was phenomenal! It’s honestly my favorite Old Fashioned of any I’ve tried.

Also, my waitress, G, was fantastic!! She explained everything on the menu, gave suggestions, and checked up on me often.

Will be back for sure! And often.
