Money Pit was recommended to me by a good close friend. She explained her and her family went there and the food was amazing. So my family and I decided to get take out from there. The ambience was beautiful. The restaurant was well put together with karaoke, pool tables an area for outside siding as well. The staff was amazing!! Polite and gave us a tour of the establishment. I was even given a courtesy call to ensure my pickup time so my food would be hot. My only issue was the food. I’m not sure if it was the end of day or what but the food was not it. I hand the beef rib that was mostly bone and the meat on the bone that I did have was tough and tasteless. My sisters both had brisket plates and they did not even finsh the food because of not taste. The Mac n cheese was ok at best and the jambalaya was a bit tasteless as well. I’m sure they may give better food but that day it just wasn’t it. $80 wasted.

I’ve been craving BBQ all day prepping for the Southern vs FAMU game. I was greeted upon entrance and guided to the overhead menu. We spoke about the different types of dinners. Food was excellent and did not disappoint. I had the smoked brisket with Mac and Baked beans. You didn’t need any BBQ for the brisket. It was spot on from the tenderness down to the cuts. I look forward to bringing my family back to this spot.

I really wanted to like this place. The lady who greeted me was so nice and told me all about their hours and the various events they have. She also gave me a tour of the space, and it was really nice! A man, who I believe to be the owner, was also great and really friendly.
My complaint is sadly with the food, though. I got brisket, potato salad, and baked beans. The brisket was quite bland, and the potato salad was somewhat gritty and had an underdone piece of potato in it. Maybe it was just an off day, but they were super friendly!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This place is a hidden gem. We happened upon them a couple of weeks ago and it was an awesome experience.

I had the best meal I’ve had in a long time – pulled pork, mac & cheese, baked beans. Big portions too!

And it was so much fun! The owner & his family gave us a tour of the place & it was full of fun. There was a little alcove with chairs, books & a piano in the front, a nice bar & dining area, pool table & vintage jukeboxes, radios, tv & cigarette machine. Outside is a picnic area with a stage. The Smoking Gun Smoker is a sight to behold as are the animal shaped ones.

If I ever get to Baton Rouge, this is the first place I want to stop!

The Smokey Pit is a must-visit! Best bbq/smoked meat in town. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting, laid back atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. This place really has its own vibe…everything from the music, to the service, to the food, drinks… it’s just right. Play a game or two of pool while visiting!! Enjoy the lounging and the outdoor patio! The food? Simply outstanding. If you’re a BBQ lover…this is the spot! The flavors are rich, smoky, and mouthwatering!
The standout dishes are, without a doubt, the perfectly smoked meats—fall-off-the-bone ribs, tender pulled pork, juicy brisket, and my personal favorite, the smoked catfish. One meal will have you coming back for more. But it’s not just about the meat; the sides are equally impressive. Let’s not forget about the service. The staff is friendly, attentive, and they make sure you are taken care of. It’s clear that they take pride in their work, and it shows in both the food and the overall vibe of the place.
Once you’ve tried The Smokey Pit, you’ll definitely find yourself craving it again like me! It’s one of those spots that earns repeat visits—no doubt about it! 10/10!

I can’t think of one negative thing about my dining experience at The Smokey Pit. The staff were very hospitable. The ladies who work there even took the time out to show me around. JB, the pit master and GM, takes pride in what he does and values his diners opinions on the food. The good conversations make you feel as though your part of the Smokey Pit family.

Shout out to the beef brisket which is “tendernism” to perfection. Its side kicks, green beans, corn on the cob, and Arnold Palmer were surprisingly good and complimented well with my meal.

They have a good thing going and I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for good barbeque spot.

I forgot to take pictures of the food but definitely will be coming back!

We are from out of town, looking for great BBQ… we found it! I highly recommend the Brisket Biscuits! The beef rib was the most tender we have EVER had! The music is fantastic, the owner is personable and take such great care of us. It is off the beaten path, but WORTH IT!!

My husband and I took our daughter for her 14th birthday and we loved it. I had brisket, wings, baked beans, and green beans. My husband had beef ribs that were so tender and good, sausage, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. My daughter had the pulled pork nachos. We didn’t wait long at all. The food was brought out very fast. The staff had great vibes. Tiffany was awesome! The only thing we weren’t too fond of was the Mac and cheese but everything else was so good. Your taste buds would be pleased. Y’all definitely have to try the pulled pork nachos. Oh and there’s also a pool table, darts, a lounge area, and a bar. Karaoke nights and trivia nights. Check them out! We’ll definitely be back!
