Old-world Italian food & wine in a spacious yet warm dining room lined with Corinthian columns.

3.5 really
Friendly service.
Flavorful, good food: the pasta came out hot, but the carbonara was a bit oily , and the bruschetta tasted as if it had been fried in oil.
Wines by the glass were ok, but (apart from the super Tuscan), nothing to write home about.
The modern art on the walls is interesting and colorful – and provides a surprising contrast with the “architectural” pillars around the room.

We turned up thinking that someone from our party of 5 had Meade reservations only to find that we had no reservations. However, we were graciously seated and we enjoyed a lovely evening. The wine was excellent and the dishes were tasty, flavorful and well presented. The gnocchi was superb in a delicate Gorgonzola sauce. The lamp chops were well liked by one person but not by another. Good selection of appetizers. The service is not rushed and it is personable and friendly. Yup! Give this spot a shot. You will enjoy your experience.

I found that the food quality was very good. I imagine their pastas are the items to order as they are featured prominently on the menu and protein afterwards. Out tabled order a lot of food – appetizers , pasta, protein dishes – and everything was not very good even if they charged less. I find it hard to recommend this restaurant and I don’t understand the 4.7 average rating. But I am only one review. You should consider all the other glowing reviews when you make your dining choice.

I went there to celebrate my 10000th day The food is authentic and served fast. The environment is full of unique decoration that you can tell it’s nicely picked by the owner. The staffs there were so friendly and told us about the story of this shop. Tiramisu and lasagna are must haves!!!! Everything were so good and it was a perfect dinner ☺️

The decor of this place brought back fond memories of my travels in Italy. It’s well lit, clean, spacious, and looked very well kept. It’s not very crowded at lunch time, so we felt like we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and colleague as the food and wine were delicious. For this visit my fav were the spinach ravioli and the cannoli. The chocolate torta was a bit too heavy for me as it’s super rich.

This place was like stepping into Italy itself! Very bright, clean, exciting atmosphere. Perfect temperature and volume level of music. Once you entered, the owners greet you and seat you right away. Service was quick and everyone there knew the menu options very well! My party and I decided to try a range of different dishes! Their homemade pasta was delicious! This is the best place to eat Italian any day of the week. Sauces were flavourful and tasted fresh. They make pasta daily and if it runs out they don’t sell it. This ensure quality is at its best! Seafood pasta, lasagna, wild boar, and the lamb was spectacular. Would recommend to anyone looking to take a step into Italy right in the heart of San Mateo.

Incredible authentic Italian food. This place is run by an Italian couple. The woman is always circulating the tables making sure everyone is satisfied. They get the freshest ingredients and show great care in maintaining the high quality of their food. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for good Italian. Prices are fair for the bay area.

Literally the best Italian I have had in my entire life. Wife had the lasagna and I had something I can not spell, but the meat was tender and the pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. We had the canola and it was the perfect end to the meal. 10/10 meal. Everything was perfect.

this is definitely the hidden gem in san mateo. we’ve been to some less touristy parts of Italy few years ago and this restaurant’s tastes and vibe just brought us back to Italy – a family restaurant in a small town in Italy. the pasta is homemade, the hardness is on point, very chewyn the sauce is also really tasty you can feel it’s stewed for very long time. the soup is also not cheesy, just the taste of tomato and oliver oil. compare to other Italian restaurants ,some are too americanized (cheesy), some are good but too expensive. this is the authentic family Neapolitan restaurant you are looking for
