This place was amazing and surprising for it’s location. I didn’t expect to find this little gem on a trip to their neighbor, Harbor Freight.
This location was welcoming and very clean, as well as the staff being inviting and ready to make the visit easier!!
The food was above par: seasoned but salty at all, moist, and at adequate temps… Ready to make your order timely!
There’s a few meat selections but most of the menu and options are vegetables and fruits. They only have cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, onions, salad, rice, etc as condiments and toppings!!
Give them a check, very tidy, and patient staff!!!
Also this location’s kitchen is open later than mostly every other fresh food restaurant in the area, closing after midnight most nights.
The food was the real highlight—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell the chef takes pride in both quality and taste. My meal was cooked to perfection, with seasonings that complemented the ingredients without overpowering them.
The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure we enjoyed our time. Service was prompt, and even though the place was busy, everything ran smoothly.
The service was quick and friendly, and the staff made sure everything was just right. Whether you’re craving a hearty chicken over rice platter or a juicy gyro, Shah’s delivers every time.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for tasty and satisfying halal food. I’ll definitely be coming back!
The sauces are excellent. I tried them all — fair warning, the red sauce is very hot. If you’re curious, I recommend just a sliver on your sandwich or getting it on the side first.
I ordered the lamb with rice, and both were cooked to perfection.
Atmosphere – The place is located within a plaza and is clearly visible and well-lit at night. The plaza is in a very safe area. It just opened and is very clean inside and out. Good open/wide dining area with plenty of tables and chairs.
Parking – Plenty of free parking within the plaza.
Service – Good service with attentive staff who welcomes you as soon as you enter the door. Adam, who is the manager for the East Hartford location, did an amazing job at taking my order, which had about 30 different orders, and they got all 30 orders right, including specific topping requested for different orders. BRAVO…
Rasheed and Ali are fantastic too with their pleasant personality, which is very critical to run any business, especially food business.
Food – Shah’s Halal has made a name for themselves by offering excellent food at great price. It is more of a fast-food place. The menu is very limited, but they do it right with the menu items they have. We had a big party and had ordered just about everything on the menu, and every item was fantastic. You will not go wrong with any item. The Platters are their most famous items which is rice with your choice of meat (Chicken which has tandoori masala, Lamb/Beef, and Falafel for vegetarian option; then you select the toppings you want such as sautéed onions/peppers, lettuce, mixed salad, olives, chickpeas, humus, cucumbers, etc. They also have a beef and chicken Chapli kabab for the platter option. It is fantastic (It’s best to eat this item at the restaurant to get its full flavor and texture of the meat).
All of the Platters are made right in front of you. This is great because you can see the food is being made around clean area. All of the meat and toppings are kept in its own container with separate utensils for each item to ensure there’s no cross-contamination.
Don’t miss their Pakora Chips, which is thinly sliced potatoes with light seasoned coating and fired. It’s much better than typical fires. (Note, the Chapli Kabab Platter comes with 5 pieces of Pakora Chips)
Price – Very reasonable price. The platters are $11.99, and it’s hard for me to finish it in one go. The other items like sandwiches, fries, and grinders are very reasonable priced too.
