Roast Pork with Noodle Soup: The meat was overcooked and the flavor was just okay. Although the broth came separately, once combined with the noodles, the dish lacked any real taste.
Braised Pork Belly: Flavor was decent, but the texture was a bit off – slightly overcooked and tougher than expected. It also seemed like an egg was added just to fill space.
Hot & Sour Soup: Haven’t tried it yet, but this dish is usually hard to mess up, so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that it’ll be fine. (Edit: I was wrong – this was disappointing in both flavor and texture)
Overall, not impressed and would reorder from this restaurant. While portion size and price were good, there are plenty of better options nearby that execute their dishes with much more flavor and care. I’ve had the same dishes from Flushing, reheated days later, that tasted better than what’s considered “fresh” from this place. If you’re looking for authentic, this isn’t it.
Lunch Special: Eggplant with Garlic Sauce + Choice of soup
Eggplant came out great! Note that this may not be vegetarian due to the fired rice (had egg in it). Rice was a bit greasy, and there was a bit too much rice for me personally.
Lunch Special: Sesame Chicken + Choice of soup
Standard Americanized Chinese food. Again, the rice was a greasy, and there was far more rice than ideal.
Wonton Soup:
Pretty good soup. Broth was good, wontons were good.
Appetizer: Scallion Pancakes
Okay serving size for the price. Definitely recommend the sauce- the pancakes are a bit bland otherwise. Pancakes looked to be fried as well, and were crisp.
They also had Ramune available, which is always nice
The food is authentic and this appears to attract a large Asian and Asian American clientele.
It reminds me of Chinese food found in Queens in terms of quality and atmosphere. I’m glad to find such a place here.
