Had to wait for a government shutdown to be able to go here during lunch. Coworkers have gone here and reported an hour wait for food during lunch. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry. I’ve swung by twice before, opened the door, saw the place packed and then left. So, I was looking forward to trying this place out!
The price seemed kind of high for what you get — $30 for the 2 meat, 2 side combo for lunch is probably the most I’ve paid in Huntsville during lunch, which is saying something. $30 bucks didn’t include bread or a roll, or a drink. One small cup of BBQ sauce for a half pound of meat was a little sad. The food was mostly pretty good if I am honest. The baked beans and potatoe salad were on point (so many BBQ places get this wrong). The pulled pork was good but trying to conserve BBQ sauce and no bread to pair it with was a let down. The brisket- well, it’s the first time in 40 years I have ever eaten brisket that was chopped up in small cubes, I think it looses something when it gets minced. Hard to enjoy the bark etc.
The red BBQ sauce looked like a cross between jelly and Chinese-American duck sauce. I was highly skeptical, but warmed to the taste.
Overall not a bad experience but could have been better. If you’re in a hurry I would pass, but if you want BBQ on base this is the place. We will see if they can stay open long term. Check them out!

Absolutely delicious, huge portion sizes, great prices, friendly staff. Honey Sriracha smoked wings were incredible. Pulled pork was seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend!

The price was close to average for a barbeque place. The BBQ meat itself was fine but everything else just wasn’t that good. My kids wouldn’t eat the fries, I took the bread off my sandwich, and the BBQ I was given to go on my sandwich was like jelly and seemed a bit strange. They replaced it without any fuss but the replacement to put as nice as possible just was not for me. Also the drink machine was broken and they ran out of sweet tea.

Ordered just the Pulled Pork Sandwich, super flavorful and juicy, just the right size if you’re feeling peckish. Quick and kind staff 10/10

Big John’s never disappoints. The food is hot, seasoned right, and the portions are worth the price. The wings were good, the fries were fresh, and the service was friendly. It’s hidden behind Open Bottle. A good place to stop, drink, and enjoy yourself.

Great, friendly, professional staff. The loaded fries are soooo good! The cabbage may be the best I’ve ever had! The ribs are decent. I don’t eat catfish but everyone that has tried it say it’s the best!

I ordered the Philly fries and loved them. Although, the only line menu offers bread I never got any when order this item in person. I felt the cost for the brisket was a bit pricey. I only had a small portion in a cup and the cost was more expensive than a brisket sandwich sold elsewhere. Not to mention, it was mostly fat than meat.

This place is amazing. I’ve had Bbq all over the country and make my own also. The white sauce isn’t sweet the pork is actually seasoned and they are super nice. Will definitely have to come back.

Very disappointing BBQ. I got a brisket sandwich. That plus a water is 20 bucks with a side. The brisket was tasteless. Very little smoke flavor and the bark had only the faintest acquaintance with pepper. The sauce was pretty good and almost saved the sandwich. Fries were good. But the slaw was pretty much just some cabbage in vinegar. The portions were good, but I can’t see ever going back even if the wait wasn’t 20 minutes.
Just disappointing.

What in the heck? Five dollars for a super small sliver of cake. The other food was great. I will never purchase dessert again.
