Fantastic lunch today.its a great small town vibe. Two restaurants tied together with a merchandise store part of the same area. Super friendly folks with really great service, even when their busy. Then there’s the great food! The regular size chicken fried steak was plenty of food for lunch (they do have a bigger size) it was very tender. The green beans had a touch of spicy to them mixed with cooked onions Andy sausage, made for a great flavor. You like okra! Yep, me too. Theirs is very good. Then there’s the pie. I had a slice of chocolate meringue, it did not disappoint . Our group also had a wrap and a good oll fashioned burger and fries . Their desert was coconut meringue pie . Can’t wait to go back to try something else on the menu. There’s also a whole days activity just walking around downtown .

While visiting family in Quitman, Tx, we were treated to La Waffalata in Mineola. We were seated quite quickly despite having a party of five adults and three toddlers. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive to our needs.
Positives: As stated above, the staff were awesome. The prices felt like we were in the 80’s, especially in the current economy. The serving portions were incredible. The value was THE BEST food for money on our entire fourteen day trip throughout the US. Not even close.
Negatives: These are small pet peeves, FYI. Dinnerware was plastic, which is fine for most foods, but difficult for Chicken Fried Steak. The food also took twenty to thirty minutes to arrive, but considering the quality and quantity of it, I feel bad even mentioning it.
The atmosphere had a diner vibe mixed With a wholesome down home feel. Exactly what one would expect. And that’s not a bad thing. But for those looking for ambiance and low light atmosphere, they may have to travel elsewhere. However, I would absolutely tell them they are missing out.
Obviously this is a local hot spot as it was consistently busy for lunch. It’s everything you’d expect from a quaint southern restaurant/town and then some!

So many great items and at a great price. So many both with antiques and new. The lady who was at the cashier was very nice.

We skipped in the meal. They open at 10:30. Their sign clearly says homemade Belgian waffles and they serve NONE. They have signs hanging from the ceiling advertising “coffee bar” but serve only regular coffee with milk and creamer. We decided to only have the drinks.
I was bummed out. The server was absolutely as kind and polite! Quick to serve and provided so much information on what they served! She was great!
We went across the street.

We stopped here for lunch as we were driving through town. Cute place, but the food was only so-so. I ordered the French Dip. The bread was toasted and dry, there wasn’t enough cheese on the sandwich and my curly fries were cold. Our Server was attentive but she was very busy so no small chit-chat that you’d expect at a small town Mom & Pop kind of place.

We had the triple decker blt and a chicken salad sandwich both delish and dig enough to share. The New York sauce is so good! They also has a specialty tea that is amazing!! We had the dreamcicle cake, which was a big slice for two, nice flavors. Good service with laid back atmosphere and a vintage adjoining mall to walk it off afterwards. Definitely be back!
