I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to the mushroom fries and my husband loved the freckles.
It’s hard to pick one best meal here. The bowtie pasta was so amazing and the Fancy Pants burger has been at the top of my list for burgers. The French Dip is really delectable with that in-house made roast beef.
So far, in spite of signs down the road that say otherwise, the hands down best French fries I’ve had have been here. They are, however, outshined by the skillet green beans. They’re pan fired, perfectly seasoned, and still have just the right amount of crunch. Definitely one of our favor restaurants!

I stopped into Hillcrest Tavern this past Monday around 2 p.m., and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The place has a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, laid back but still cool, just a great spot to unwind for a late lunch.
The bartender provided excellent service, attentive without being overbearing, which always makes a difference. I ordered the French dip with natural cut fries, and it was spectacular. I had been craving a French dip, which is what brought me in for the first time, and it absolutely delivered. The sandwich was flavorful and satisfying, and the fries were the perfect complement.
I will definitely be back. This is another great spot worth checking out, and I am happy to add it to my regular list of places to go in Louisville.

Lifelong Louisville resident, first time guest here. Fun welcoming ambiance right in Frankfort Avenue. Loved the Asian chicken salad and beer cheese with pretzels. Our server was great – Didn’t catch her name but she had a “W” on her necklace and was awesome.

I make a habit of going brewery hopping to local places. We pulled this place at random and have been back several times since. The food INCREDIBLE!! Especially the pasta dishes. They have a delicious Orange flavored Margarita. The staff is super nice and on top of things. Very comfortable for date nights, family dinners or a beer with friends. Everyone we went with loved it and has also been back a few times. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Stopped by Hillcrest Tavern for lunch and absolutely loved it. The hot chicken sandwich was outstanding — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and worth coming back for alone. The service was friendly and attentive, the lunch crowd was fun and lively, and the space itself has a relaxed, cool vintage feel that makes you want to linger.
Such a great addition to Frankfort Avenue and the Louisville food scene overall.
We’ll definitely be back.

Absolute Best Reuben hands down! Drippy and Crunchy the corn beef was moist and tender and the kraut was extra tart. The sandwich held together perfectly ‘til the end. I’ll be back!

This is very solid pub food. Service is great and nearly everything on the menu is excellent. I especially like the fried chicken tenders, beer batter on the fish and onion rings is slightly spicy and awesome, the burgers and wings are also great. Only menu item I haven’t liked is the cheesesteak; not big into whatever the cheese they use is, it seems like whiz. Overall 4.5/5 star place!

First time here and wish I had gone sooner. Every dish and cocktail looked delicious. The Halloween special witches brew was very sweet and savory. They have drink specials most nights. The spicy burger was just spicy enough while still being flavorful. And I really enjoyed the fries too!

The vibe here is super chill, like a bar in Crescent Hill. My wife got the Reuben and said it’s one of the top three she’s ever had! She’s been twice and only ever gets that with fries. I, on the other hand, was blown away by their burgers. I had the classic with pepper jack and some cast iron green beans. Seriously, if you’re around and love cheeseburgers, you HAVE to check this place out. It’s in my top five best ever.
