I love Tzen. I ordered from them on a weekly basis. They have a great lunch menu. The fish is always fresh and delicious. I always get the sushi and sashimi lunch combo with a spicy tuna roll instead. And a hot and sour soup, which is very very good. Their wonton soup is also very good and a generous portion. I believe they make their own wonton dumplings for the soup. Their hot food lunch menu is also a great deal and delicious.

The food was good and fresh however the customer service was not so great. We came here on a Saturday night and were rushed to finish the food and leave so they can go home for the night before closing time.

We were still enjoying our food but the waitress came with the check already at the table without us asking. We didn’t even have the chance to add on dessert. Soon, she came by to ask if the check was taken care of yet and no because we were eating still. So we had to stop eating, wipe our hands and pay right away before we can finish the food.

They even turned off the air conditioning, TV and some lights. They close at 10pm on Saturday’s and it was 9:32pm and we were being rushed to leave. We left there by 9:40pm. It wasn’t like we overstayed. What’s the point of having business hours? Not a pleasant experience having to shove food down while they’re all standing there watching with their coats on ready to leave.

Didn’t have high expectations but was surprised.

A restaurant needs courage to put the Roasted Duck in the menu in such an area that is lack of Asian customers. But as a Cantonese I have to say, it was way more authentic than I expected. The meat was moist and juicy, with correct flavor. The skin was crispy. A small disappointment was that it didn’t come with the plum sauce but hoisin sauce. And it should be made with a duck with better quality, but that would be more expensive, so I think the way now is acceptable. Overall, it is absolutely worth a try.

We also tried two dim sums. The Pork Soup Dumplings were more like a homemade style, looking awkward but tasting not bad. I couldn’t help eating one more although I knew it would make me fat. The Crystal Skin Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gao) weren’t cooked well. They were over-steamed and the skin was too moist. But it still tasted good inside.

I believe they have a good Cantonese chef I would definitely like to try more Cantonese dishes here.

“Hidden Gem Alert! If you’re in Cross River , you absolutely must try Tzen Asian Bistro. I recently had the pleasure of trying their lunch specials, and wow, was I blown away! The Szechuan crispy shredded beef was a flavor explosion – perfectly crispy, with just the right amount of spice . We also had the eggplant in garlic sauce , it was very flavorful . The portions were also very generous .

Tried its lunch special crispy Szechuan chicken and there was absolutely no chicken in that dish. I think in order to make it crispy I don’t know what I ate was even chicken but mostly friend corn starch.

The food is pretty good and they have reasonably priced lunch specials. I’m glad a place like this is around here and it doesn’t deserve the rating it has

Ordered in and I would say it was pretty mediocre. I don’t know why there are raisins in a shrimp fried rice either…. It doesn’t necessarily taste bad but Not authentic at all

Used to be Haiku but now under new management. I like it better now. Ate here this Saturday and very much enjoyed our meal. We had a variety of sushi, soup and an app. All was very good. The Chinese food aspect seems to be a bigger part of the menu. The Won Ton soup was excellent. I had the Char Shui a previous time and it too was great. I haven’t tried the dumplings yet because they are crazy expensive. Can’t bring myself to order $12 soup dumplings or Shrimp dumplings, especially because the number of dumplings per order are so small. Not sure what is going on with the pricing, but hopefully the owners read this and come to their senses. Still, I enjoy eating here.

UPDATE: Eat the roast duck!! Delicious, juicy and plentiful for 2 people.

Picked up dumplings, chicken & broccoli and wonton soup. The chicken was very chewy which seemed off because very thin, well cooked sliced pieces of chicken should not be chewy. No tenderness. Threw it out.

The food is great, service is very good but the restaurant is always empty which is a pity. They should do at least few days a week a “all you can eat” for like $25 per person. Get more traction so people get to know the restaurant. They should just do better on that area as the restaurant has all the potential to be full at all times and yet always empty.
