It has been rather quiet in Southland Mall these days, but one restaurant stands alone. Fat Boy Phillies is that one. The food was great and the workers are very polite and positive. It was my first time there but I will be going back soon.

I ordered the Boo special(seafood potato & 2 piece fried fish) & 1 piece of fish and crawfish Mac n cheese

The sauce was good on the potato but the seafood it was topped with was cold and the potato was only slightly warm. Fish was seasoned well. The crawfish Mac n cheese lacked flavor.

There was a bit of a wait because everything is cooked to order.

While certain things could be improved, none of the improvements are the food. The quality control is fantastic. I have ordered the same meal for my last three visits and every time it is just as delicious. Highly recommend checking them out be it their location in the Southland Mall or their food truck, either way, it’s a win! The staff is super friendly and the owner is very hands-on. They are moving in the right direction and I’m excited to see this company’s future! As long as they keep this up, I’ll be a patron forever.

Attached is a photo of their Mac Daddy. The mac and cheese has a slight seafood boil taste while the chicken has a bit of an asian flare. Sounds a bit odd but the combination is phenomenal!

as much as I try to support local businesses. I was very disappointed with this place. ordered 2 Philly cheese and 2 orders of wings with fries ( IT WASN’T EVEN A FULL WING ). Meat was dry . fries was over seasoned. No napkins , I had to go somewhere else to get a drink cause the the mimi fridge was damn near empty. they stayed on they phones more then anything. $2.50 for a can soda I’m pretty sure came from Sam’s.
lesson learned. Never again. Total price $77.00 BS.

I went on a Sunday during my lunch break, it was not busy in the store when I placed my order and only one order was ahead. I ordered a Mac Daddy and was told it would be 10-12 minutes. It took about 4 minutes for the guy at the register to tell the guy in charge of the good about my order. They didn’t have the tenders ready and asked me if I wanted something else because it would be a while before they would have more. I asked for a refund instead, and they shorted me a dollar.

We dined at the Southland Mall location. The time was 6 pm on a Friday (today actually). From the moment we walked in, and tried to order the first item, we were told they were out. Turns out, they were out of a good bit.

We ordered the smash burger ($16), the OG Philly Cheesesteak ($18), CAN of Coke ($3), and a Rouses Bottle of Water ($?), all in all over $40 for 2 of us.
Both sandwiches came with fries (not fresh, frozen, but pretty good after seasoned).
The smash burger, not seasoned, not fresh bread (we are thinking the small Rouses brand or GV), came with 2 pickle slices, some kind of sauce, and 2 slices of cheese. Absolutely no seasoning what so ever, I was glad for the fries. I ended up not eating my half (after 2 bites), and my husband ate the meat and pickles.
The OG, let’s see, they didn’t have grilled onions, the peppers were already cooked and reheated on the grill, and worst of all, the meat was prepackaged frozen. That was then topped with two slices of cheese. The bread was dry and pale. Again, thankful for the fries. Also again, after taking a couple bites, I didnt eat anymore. My husband ate the meat.
Worst offense of all, THREE DOLLARS for a CAN of Coke. Seriously??
The mark up on all of these items is insane. Definitely not worth it.

In an effort to be kind, all I will say about the customer service is that it was definitely lacking. However, the lady that took our payment and handed us our food was kind and had a nice smile.

Seriously though, the fries seasoning was really good (that’s why we gave the 2 stars). We took our boxed fries and left.

Happy eating!

The boo potato i purchased was still frozen in the middle of the. I felt like the employees was just over whelm, you’ll was running out of food and they did not know what to do. I purchased this on a Monday. You had a lot of customers waiting and no where’s to sit. Mall security kept telling us to go sit or keep moving. We couldn’t. I love your food, i won’t stop going get my food. Food critics help make a good restaurant.

Great food. I visit this place as often as possible. The food is delicious and freshly prepared. The portions are enough to last for two meals or two persons. My son loves the fish and fries, and he rarely eats fish and fries from other restaurants. Highly recommended. My favorite is the Boo special. The sauce is amazing! The sauce should definitely be purchasable in stores.
