Great margaritas. Great service. Very clean space and decorated nicely.
Very weird and poorly executed menu other than the chips and salsa. Salsa had a nice kick. I grew up in rural white America and I understand cooking for your audience, but … this was quite the deviation.
There were American cheese slices on top of several items brought to our table. The “enchilada” was just a hunk of chicken wrapped up in a taco-sized corn tortilla with a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top (no sauce?!). The chile relleno was overcooked to the point of mush, had no flavor, no discernible cheese inside, and was topped with a trusty American cheese slice. Rice had no flavor and I didn’t try the beans.
Quite a weird experience all around. I would return for chips and salsa with a margarita, otherwise this place is a hard pass for me.

We had a medium regular margarita(huge) and a mango margarita. My mango one was excellent! Our dishes were huge and extremely tasty. They have a great outdoor area as well. A must stop!

This last Wednesday, Feb. 24th, 2021 around 11:30 am, I went to Tres Amigos Mexican Restaurant in Charles City. First, the chips are perfect; they are warm, not too salty, and crispy. I liked their salsa as it was chunky and had the perfect amount of spicy.
I ordered the Chimichanga with Chile Relleno. My meal came with rice and refried beans. It was delicious! One thing that I am never a fan of is fountain soda and Tres Amigos serves their sodas in 20 ounce bottles. That was perfect for me!
The grounds were well kept and the tables were very nice. The food was quick, hot, and cheap. Here’s my scoring:
Food taste-10/10
Cleanliness-10/10
Amount of food vs cost-10/10
Therefore, they scored a 30/30=100%= A+
With this score and the fact that the staff were very friendly and thorough in asking how our food was (not once but twice), I would most definitely return.

The best Mexican food we’ve had in a long time!! Everything was so fresh, right down to the garnishes. The shredded chicken was perfectly seasoned and the salsa and cheese sauces are delicious!!

Had the burrito tres amigos!! Was AMAZING. The chip dip was home made, had a little kick to it but not alot. Very very good dip. And the guacamole was out of this world. Asked for a side dish of it, it was good. The burrito was very good as well. Very friendly lady waitress. And a very helpful and friendly gentleman that was keeping the table clean of unwanted plates. I will definitely be visiting again. Hopefully with some company.

Good time had by all. The food was typical Mexican. Pollo loco was fantastic, but the taquitos were soggy messes. The cheese dip was thin and runny but tasty. Chips were thick and overcooked, and sadly the salsa was chunks of tomato and onion in canned tomato sauce… not great. All was saved by a “small” margarita that met standards in taste but exceeded standards in size and value.
