Came to the Phoenix for the first time on a Thursday with a jazz band. The craft cocktails are unique and very flavorful! We ordered the chicken gyro and tacos, which were really good. Our friends ordered the burgers, which were a little too done for their liking. The music resonates off the walls, ceiling, and floors, so if you plan to converse with the rest of your party, I suggest sitting towards the back. We had a great seat up front, but you could hear the band very well all the way towards the back of the bar by the kitchen and restrooms! Will definitely be back as the owner, Andrew, was very welcoming! Next time, we would like to check out a solo artist to see how the sound differs from a four piece band! Definitely give it a try! You won’t be sorry!

Bar Phoenix is exactly what downtown Akron needed. We stopped in before a show at the Civic Theatre. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was unreal, that energy that makes the space feel both classy and comfortable.
The service was phenomenal. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. Drinks came out quickly, and the bartenders clearly know their craft. Andrew made my first one… That cocktail was one of the best I’ve had anywhere, perfect balance, beautiful presentation, and absolutely delicious.
The live music made the whole night even better. A nice added bonus for what we originally planned. It wasn’t just background noise. It created an atmosphere that made the entire room feel alive. You can tell the place takes pride in hosting real talent.
Food was another standout. Everything tasted fresh and surprisingly great for bar fare. $1 wings!!! Wow, sign me up
By the end of the night, I felt like I had discovered Akron’s new go-to spot. Bar Phoenix delivers style, quality, and great vibes every single minute you’re there.

Came across this spot before a show at the Civic and was really impressed. Crazy good Happy Hour special and the drinks were amazing. Great service too! Had some nachos that were Dorito based and fantastic. We also had an amazing burger with fries and the wings were tasty as well. The wings were a little small, but the price and flavor made up for it. I’m a hot sauce guy and 90% of places use Frank’s Red Hot as their hot sauce, which isn’t hot. This place probably uses Frank’s as the base, but Jazzed it up a little and it was perfect! Jazz band was setting up when we left to attend our show, but we’ll be back!

The vibe of the place was really cool, but the service was terrible. We sat for 5-7 minutes without even being greeted, so then one of us got up to go to the bar and order and the owner said he would be over. He was friendly, but never apologized for our wait. We ordered 3 alcoholic beverages and a water, it took another 5 minutes to receive 2 of the drinks and then finally received the third. never received the water. we ordered three appetizers, which were taking awhile. Another bartender came over and we said we need to pay the bill because we were attending a show at the civic across the street. She said she was going to make an executive decision – not sure what that was considering we were on one check and we still had not received our apps so not sure what decision had to be made. .. finally received one of the three appetizers, she said the other two were being plated up. then another 5-10 minutes passes without receiving them still, so then we had to leave without receiving the appetizers we paid for. Again not once received an apology. Not a great experience.
