First time visitors to Saxis and Captain E’s. A local at the Saxis museum recommended it. Be sure to have gas in the car, local told me gas station is 13 miles away. I sat at the bar and Joy the owner was having lunch at the bar, very friendly, funny and smart lady!
I ordered shrimp, clams, and oysters, all delicious. Few businesses in Saxis. Plenty of parking in private lot and street.
Captain E’s had a food truck open when I visited. I shall return!

Friendly people, fun atmosphere, beautiful scenery, but only gave them four stars because there’s not many choices if you’re a Celiac. The house salad, with no croutons of course, was delicious and I got steamed shrimp too.

Captain E’s is a hidden gem tucked away in a small town sitting on the Pocomoke. This isn’t a spot slinging craft beers and pristinely plated food. It’s the kind of place serving genuine homestyle southern cooking, well-priced cocktails, and friendly service. The fried fish is flavorful and generously portioned. The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese are a perfect pairing. And you’ve got to try the cinnamon butter.
The decor, plating, and atmosphere are truly no frills. Expect poured concrete floors, a bar packed with locals, and folding chairs. There are a few TVs and country music playing for entertainment. In the summer, they have an outdoor tiki bar just steps from the water. Great local option if you’re looking for a unique dive bar (using that term affectionately) and/or some great home cooking.

Expect a hole in the wall, local joint and nothing more Flounder sandwich and crabby fries were good. Soft shell crabs were small and dissapointing. If dining outside you’ll get your food in to-go containers. Server was sweet. Best thing about this place was the Hurricane I’d go back for drinks at the tiki bar, but probably not for dining. Avoid the Porta Johns at all costs!

AMAZING crab! All of the reviews are spot on, best crab cake I’ve had. Oysters were great too! Ms. Sue is the sweetest woman on the island!

Wonderful and unassuming local bar on the water. Excellent local seafood, Smith Island cake, and a nice bar. Tiki bar outside I. The warmer months, and it’s right on the water by the town dock. Very chill and friendly. WiFi available as well.

My wife and and our two children had lunch today. It was horrible! The stench of cigarette smoke everywhere! We spent over $100! This place is very overpriced and serve the expensive food in to go containers. The appetizers were a ripe off, clam chowder in a half cup paper bowl [$7.50] and fried green tomatoes [4 slices served of course in a to go container. Both extremely overpriced! I had a oil drenched flounder sandwich along with oil drenched fries served in a classy to go container for $20! I ate half of it because I was hungry and ended up with indigestion. This place is a rip off and a dump. Needless to say, we would not think of returning.

We decided on Mother’s Day to visit Saxis for the first time and stopped by to eat, we didn’t have a reservation but they accommodated us anyway (even with a baby in a stroller) and were so welcoming! Every single thing we ordered was amazing. Steamed shrimp- cooked to perfection. Fried oysters (I don’t even like oysters) – 10/10. Pulled pork fries- should have gotten a large order instead of a small. Mixed drinks – on point. Our waitress – awesome. The owner- so personable and such a blast. Best place on Eastern Shore to stop for lunch for my first Mother’s Day! Thank you for a great meal, we can’t wait to come back!
