Be sure to place an order ahead of time. This place was run by two kind ladies. The woman who took our order was the server and the cook for the entire restaurant. Meanwhile,, she also had to answer phone calls while she was cooking. Mad respect for this woman! This was our first stop after we arrived. Conveniently located 5 minutes away from the airport, this place provided a nice homemade meal for all of us. The boneless country chicken was very tasty. Second was lemon chicken.

Worth it. Called ahead to make sure it was open, came when hungry, enjoyed a meal of prime rib & roasted pork with no other sit-down customers outside in pleasant and shady seating area at 4:30 pm on a Friday (ideal time to make it back to Dave’s for ice before it closes at 6).
Food was delicious, freshly made (as in, owner had to shut down over the weekend to fly to Maui to get supplies because it was so busy last week), and it was the most highly piled prime rib I’ve ever had on my plate. Left stuffed & happy, have leftovers for prime rib sandwich for tomorrow’s Halawa Valley tour, & had to skip the ice cream and take a sunset walk on the wharf instead. A nice problem to have.
Hard disagree that anything is overpriced. They legit make it all fresh, not from Costco or Gordon’s. And such portions!
Lots of people coming in for take-out. That’s also a good option.

While I’ve only eaten there once (5/18/23), I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘ono (a white fish) with the lilikoi sauce on it. It was a very good and satisfying home cooked meal. That lilikoi sauce . Bonus – on Thursdays, a group of locals play live Hawaiian music (traditional) outside.

We had large portion dinners…Ono fish dinner and Turkey and Ham with all the fixins. Shrimp bacon wrapped.
The food was excellent tasting with home cooked feel and presentation…Don’t get in a hurry and enjoy. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home. BYOB or soft drinks.

We originally planned to come here for brunch, but they were inexplicably closed despite all posted information about their hours. So that was disappointing.
Later, we were free for dinner so we decided to try the cookhouse again. This time they were open. The woman that runs the restaurant is nice and is pretty fast despite doing everything herself. Another minor gripe is that we could neither order our first nor our second choices for dishes due to them being out of certain ingredients. We ended up getting the chicken katsu and BLT. The sandwich and fries were fine, though the chicken katsu was rather bland and the mac salad was really salty. This was slightly offset by the portion sizes being large.
Overall, it’s an ok restaurant, assuming that you’re able to catch them while they’re open and while they have ingredients.

While this was our 1st time, Tina ensured it won’t be pur last! Great salad with papaya seed dressing, oh so fresh: taco salad that was better than ever in a lifetime and fresh Ono (caught the day before in a Ginger broth with nice sticky rice. The only thing even better.than the meal was the great owner, coolk and gracious hostess with a sweet and life affirming personality. Tina, we loved it!

Hey, relax, enjoy your meal! Good food takes time, and all four of us were raving about our dishes. The Ono with lilikoi butter was sensational. One of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. Could have easily shared it with the large portion but nah! Thank you Cookhouse!

Wish I could give more because some reviews made it so attractive but so disappointed they were closed at 1pm on a Saturday trying to go before our flight out at 4pm. We tried calling several times as suggested and seemed they only stepped away so we tried stopping by on our way to airport and sadly they were closed with no explanation….But discovered the lovely market across street. Loved friendly cashier’s and section in deli and items to go so we ended up with picnic from this market across from restaurant instead!!!

The best Hawaiian Plate Lunch I have ever eaten. I ordered the pork cutlet. %100 fresh ingredients and cooked to order. The crunchy breading and tender pork was topped with a delicious gravy. My wife had the Mahi which was topped with an amazing sauce. Rice and Mac salad was spot on. These plates were cooked with ❤. Large portions, plenty for later. Be patient, food like this takes time to prepare. But your on Molokai, time should not be an issue lol
