My Bride and I first stopped by shortly after Metalworks opened. They were already out of several items, a good sign that people were lining up early. That made it promising, so we made a point to come back.

When we did, we had high hopes. We tend to share meals since most places serve portions big enough for two, but Metalworks leans more toward single servings. We ordered the brisket sandwich meal with mac and cheese. Once we realized it wouldn’t be enough to share, we added two cornbreads with honey (sorry, no photo of the cornbread this time).

The brisket was delicious — well smoked, moist, and flavorful. We tried all the BBQ sauces; they were all similar, and while none really stood out, they were okay. The bun and cornbread were harder to stay positive on, both on the dry side. The cornbread was cold, probably straight from the fridge, though it did taste homemade.

We were split on the mac and cheese. I wasn’t a fan. It reminded me more of a white Velveeta than real cheese. My Bride liked it, calling it creamy and satisfying.

The young folks working there were friendly and helpful. We’ll probably give Metalworks another try, maybe earlier in the day next time. It might make a difference.

Great food, great people & wonderful customer service. The ladies here are so nice. Taco Thursday is delicious. Brisket tacos with a side of homemade Spanish rice with some beans. Yum! Next week chicken tacos.

The brisket tacos with hot honey bbq were delicious and a great value deal! Picky eater ate the burger with onion rings and really enjoyed it, which is saying a lot! =]

Small bbq shop in the cute town of Mead. Great pulled pork, tacos, Mac n cheese, and cornbread. Really like the spicy and hot honey bbq sauces. Very friendly shop owners as well. Definitely will be back to try the brisket!

Solid bbq. Prices are a touch high. 32 bucks for a pound of brisket vs mid 20’s in small town Texas bbq joints; however, I chalk that up to cost of living in Colorado. (I’ve seen absolutely crap NY bbq charge 40 a pound for brisket.) Ribs are good, not over cooked. Brisket is decent. Not Terry Black’s level, but good bark, good moisture. Meat overall could use a bit more salt. Sauce is pretty meh. I appreciate the effort to have 4 different options, but in true TX bbq fashion, none of the sauces were good. 4 out of 5 stars overall.

Had ribs that were fall-off-the-bone delicious, a generous portion; the half rack and cornbread satisfied two people. The service was spectacular, and I will definitely return, and recommend them to all BBQ lovers.

Their menu is limited. For a Friday night at 6pm they were out of ribs and cornbread. The food is way overpriced and not that good. It took 25 minutes to get out food and the place wasn’t even busy. We try to support our local businesses but this one’s not worth it. Sorry, we won’t be back.

Amazing BBQ served up by a super nice staff. I had the ribs and they were cooked to perfection and paired with the spicy BBQ sauce. Worth the trip to downtown Mead for this!
