We all know that Wards is artery clogging, greasy fast food, but that never stopped me nor a large percentage of the state of Mississippi.
However, two days ago, I ordered 2 families worth of breakfast, got to my destination, and ended up having to bring both of my orders of sausage gravy biscuits back for being inedible. These things were as if you poured a glass of milk over a biscuit and let it sit for 20 minutes. Exactly how you see it in the photo is how it was handed through the window to me. The gravy was liquid, and the biscuit was so soggy that a fork wouldn’t even hold it.
I asked for 2 ham, egg, and cheese biscuits in its place. As I watched the girl make them, in the back, she started scooping cold scrambled eggs out of a bowl and put it on my biscuit. I stopped her there as well and asked when they started using pre-scrambled eggs and was told “with the new management and you have to specify if you want a fresh folded egg when you order. “…. Seriously???
I was also told by the ladies up front (who were kind) that there were employees in the back that don’t care what the food is like when they send it out…. Clearly!
Cut to today. It’s lunch, and my kids wanted Wards. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking they probably just had a bad morning last time, so let’s see how the lunch round is.
It honestly wasn’t any better. I seen the same 2 cooks in the back that were there before.
The little ones were nothing but grease. (As I said before, I understand that these things are greasy which is understandable, but the buns were complete mush.) And the popcorn chicken was hard and dry to the point it looked as if they were left over and thrown back into the fryer…. Never again….
When I got home and unwrapped my burger “Big One” it had what I call a dollop of chili on it. I’m used to the chili being all the way to the edges where it left grease stains on the wrapper. I called the restaurant to let the manager know and she said “I’m sorry but the owner said we are only allowed to put one scoop of chili on everything”. I then stated… “look I understand prices are going up but we as the customers expect what we are used to and to most of us eating out is a treat”. I worked for the same owner years ago and this was not what her dad built Ward’s on.
Needless to say they lost a customer today bc neither location on 49 would never ever send a sandwich out like that.
