Pho Saigon or So Far-gone?

16$ shrimp fried rice appears to be a lunch sized serving. Very small and not even topped with very much veggie options. A few pinches of beans sprouts, few small pieces of broccoli and some modest, little pieces of cabbage and a grand total of 3 pieces of thin sliced carrot. Extremely stingy for such a high priced dinner item. Don’t skimp on veggies; it’s Asian food. Asian food is known for is its lovely veggie additions!
Slightly flavored fried rice. It was actually just above bland. We won’t be rebuying this dish again.
Shrimp had almost no flavor and slightly over cooked making it that texture-sad mushy when you bite down.
The white onions, a personal all-time favorite on earth, were lovely. White and crunchy and on time!

Chicken Pho
Decent amount of veggies (more than other local pho places)
Sriracha sauce they gave me was rancid and by the time I found the rot out it was at the bottom of my pho soup and broth and all toppings. Perfect.
My jalapeños were soft and browned from over-aging instead of crunchy and verdant and the seeds were yellowish brown instead of a healthy white.
Broth which usually MAKES a pho restaurant what it is was pretty ho-hum. It was alright. Maybe a 6/10 flavor.
Another big loss was the over-ripe ingredients and rancid sriracha sauce and it gave my whole pho experience a very bitter outcome. But the kick of the jalapeños and onions helped a bit to distract me. But expired ingredients is a mighty big “no no” in food service.

The ladies at the front counter were very kind and thorough and the food was ready in 10 minutes, after I ordered it. So customer service and food prep time were very impressive! Especially within an hour before closing.

Quite a sad, and steep, 50$ to spend for a dinner that was so plain jane. But it was quick and friendly service— and that does help. End of day, people come for food and if that’s not up to a decent standard… well, I’ll let you finish that one.

Pho Saigon is amazing. The staff are very friendly and they have an amazing menu. My wife and I bring our daughter here all the time and the food has always been very tasty!

I recommend coming here if you’re looking for authentic Asian food.

I hit up Pho Saigon in Covington, LA, and dove into their menu item #18—Rare Steak, Brisket, and Tendon Pho—like it was my job. This bowl is a beefy masterpiece, with a broth so rich it could star in its own foodie biopic. The rare steak was tender enough to write poetry, the brisket basically dissolved on my tongue, and the tendon? A chewy little plot twist that screamed, “You’re bold, and I’m here for it!” Paired it with their Vietnamese iced coffee, and holy beans, Batman—this stuff is like a caffeinated karate kick. Silky, sweet condensed milk meets bold coffee in a glass that’s basically liquid swagger. My only gripe? I’m now spoiled for life, and my shirt smells like I rolled in herbs and caffeine. Five stars—Pho Saigon, you’re my new food crush!

The food was amazing! I ordered the rare beef pho and the beef spring rolls to go, the serving size was nice and filling and came with everything you’d get at the restaurant. Everything had such good flavor, I have a cold and this made me feel so much better. Definitely give this place a try! ❤️ (The noodles were under the beef )

This was our first visit and we were both impressed. We started with the summer rolls with grilled shrimp and the pork buns. I got a hot tea and my friend got a Vietnamese iced coffee. The presentation was authentic. For our entrees we tried the pork bahn mi, and I got the #23 pho. With lemongrass broth and brisket with vermicelli noodles. The bread on the bahn mi was delightfully light and crispy, not chewy or stale like some other places. The broth was not super rich as I normally like, but it was light and refreshing with a little spice to it. All around a delicious meal, and we will gladly return again soon.

Very good pho broth, very authentic, appeared to be owned and operated by a vietnamese chef, i think you will be happy if you are looking for a traditional vietnamese restaurant. We enjoyed pho soup and asian omelet with bean sprouts and shrimp. The egg rolls were full flavored and crispy. Definitely recommend.

Excellent as always. I usually go with #15, pho with rare steak. The broth is fragrant and delicious! Herbs are always fresh. This is one of if not my all time favorite spot for pho.

UPDATE: One year later, and I still visit every single time I’m in town. Can confirm that the quality is consistent. This remains my favorite Pho spot within an hour’s drive of New Orleans.

Update 2: Months after that, we’re still going back. Staff are so friendly but don’t ‘bug’ customers. Our server even remembered our usual order!

We have been here twice now. There are quite a few Pho restaurants in Covington, and Pho Saigon is among the best. Quick and friendly service, and good quality eats! During this visit, we had the Spring Rolls, Beef Vermicelli, and the Specialty Pho. All were top notch. Would come back, and would recommend!

The most pungent clove pho broth I’ve had and the rare beef tasted like it was on the edge of turning bad. On the other hand, the brisket was tender. The A/C was also out.
Our first meal there may have been on their off day but I was sadly disappointed in my favorite soup dish.
