We were regulars at the Westnedge location and were sad to see it close. We decided to take the extra drive up to the Drake location, where we found the same menu, same general ambiance, and best of all, the same awesome service from Erica.

Omelets are easily two meals, pancakes are delicious and filling, the breakfast burrito is a filling bundle of good stuff.

Yes, the physical facility is a bit dated and shows signs of age, but I’m here for the food and service! Prices are fair, on par with similar restaurants in the area. Sides can quickly run up your bill, so keep an eye on your add-ons.

Restaurant life is tough, but we are very glad this location lives on. We may not be able to visit as often, but will definitely return when we’re looking for a hearty breakfast in a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Decent food. The server messed up a few things. The atmosphere is catered to the older crowd whom I assume go in regularly as the primary source of income so it’s understandable. On a personal note they should serve Dr. Pepper as it’s one of the more popular pops to drink in the morning. A bit of a makeover of the facility is needed as it is quite outdated which may be deterring the younger crowd. However this place is fortunately cheap for the food I received on my plate.

Amazing service! The food was absolutely incredible i haven’t had this good of breakfast in awhile. The pigs in a blanket were not your original biscuit sasage, these were rolled up in pancakes 10/10. Ham and cheese omelet was really good a little over seasoned but was still worth it 9/10.

Came here for breakfast for our first time. Wasn’t impressed with the atmosphere whatsoever. It’s hard to distinguish what theme restaurant this is. Odd colors, doubles of every picture on the wall. I ordered the chicken and waffle. Plain waffle, plain chicken, nothing special. Can out looking super dry and unappealing. Definitely could use some pointers in food presentation and taste. My wife ordered the Greek omelette and it was flat with a very few pieces of feta sprinkled on top, also not impressed with the flavor or presentation. I’d have to be honest with a 3 star rating here. Service was the best part of the experience, polite and friendly.

I would like to recognize Emily for the exceptional way she represents this establishment. Her professionalism, clear communication, and natural ability to make every customer feel welcomed truly set her apart. Even small details, like the care she takes in her presentation, reflect her dedication to excellence. Emily consistently goes above and beyond what’s expected, and her efforts deserve recognition.

Thank you for your outstanding service,
Emily,

This place is a hidden gem! It should be way busier than it is. The food is very good and the service is great. Our new favorite breakfast joint in Kzoo.

I had the pleasure of visiting Colonial Kitchen for the first time recently, and I can confidently say it may be my new favorite breakfast spot in Kalamazoo!

From the moment I walked in, the warmth and friendliness of the staff stood out. When more of my family showed up than I had expected, one staff member went out of their way to patiently and graciously help me change tables so we could all sit together comfortably. That kind of kindness isn’t something you see every day.

Our waitress, Shauna, was a total gem—attentive, cheerful, and on top of everything. She even read my mind on wanting whipped cream on my pancakes! Millie even came by with extra hazelnut creamer (she noticed we were out) without me having to ask—such a small gesture, but one that really stuck with me. And it’s clear that this place is led with heart; Irene, the owner, has created something truly special at Colonial Kitchen.

Oh, and the breakfast? Incredible. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! Thanks for a great breakfast on Saturday June 14, Colonial Kitchen team!!

I love this place but suspect the owner’s scamming everyone by turning it into a cash only business that features a high-fee ATM. Make sure you have cash!

Very pleased with our breakfast experience. Was a little reluctant, because it looked a little run down. And may have been the quietest restaurant I’ve ever walked into. Disconcertingly so (seriously… you need to have some light background music, or something). But I’m so glad we stayed. Really good food (excellent huevos con chorizo). Actual quality jelly, syrup & creamers on the table. Very pleasant staff and service. Will ABSOLUTELY be back, next time through town.
