This was, by far, one of the worst steaks I’ve had in a long time. I only managed to finish it because I had been on a 36-hour fast. The steak had no sear and looked boiled rather than cooked on a stovetop. They brought a single bread roll out with enough butter to put on 8 rolls, which I thought was pretty funny actually. This was one of the poorer dining experiences I’ve had in quite some time. Only saving grace was the service with an attentive wait staff. Otherwise, for the love of god, go somewhere else.
I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp, which at the time seemed like a great decision. In hindsight, that decision is now aggressively disagreeing with my digestive system. About an hour after eating, my stomach started doing Olympic-level gymnastics, and now here I am conducting a two-bowl system like a man fighting for his life.
The restaurant itself didn’t exactly inspire confidence either. It felt like half the lights were off, like they were either trying to save electricity or hide the evidence. The vibe was less “cozy seafood dinner” and more “gas station aquarium at midnight.”
Then there was the salad bar. Let’s just say it looked like it had been through some things. The cucumbers had… extras on them that definitely weren’t listed on the menu. At that point I should’ve taken it as a warning sign and ran, but no—your boy doubled down and ordered seafood.
So here I am. One toilet, one bathtub, and a life lesson learned the hard way.
If you enjoy fried catfish, shrimp, dim lighting, and playing gastrointestinal roulette, this might be the place for you. As for me, I’ll be spending the rest of the night rethinking my choices and staying within sprinting distance of the bathroom.
Would not recommend.
What really made the night unforgettable, though, was our waitress Jenna. She was wonderful — friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had an amazing experience. She went above and beyond, checking on us often without ever being intrusive, and made the whole dinner feel special. You can tell she loves what she does, and it really shows.
If you’re anywhere near Bellville, do yourself a favor and stop by Yani’s Steakhouse — and if you’re lucky enough to have Jenna as your server, you’re in for an awesome night!
Food was plentiful and tasted good. The food was served hot not lukewarm as some places are prone to do.
Chicken Fettuccine had good flavor and the side veggies were crisp not limp.
Potato soup was delicious and the salad was huge.
The Orange Butter was tasty on the rolls.
Plenty of parking available.
Definitely stop in if your hungry.
The salad bar was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed choosing ingredients to make custom salads. The croutons were perfect, light and crispy.
They pour a generous glass of wine. The crab cake was a large portion and could have been a little firmer. My wife’s shrimp fettuccine was fine and I liked my flounder with avocado butter sauce. The seasoned butter for the bread was quite nice with a little cream cheese added.
We’ll be back to try the steaks!
Don’t judge this book by its cover. Work up your nerve to step through the door and you’ll be rewarded with top flavor and great service.
Serving size and wine pours were generous. I had the sirloin, medium rare. She had the chicken parmesan. Both were on point! This might just be the best place to eat out of Bellville, Hempstead, and Waller combined.
