Chefs Kitchen and Cocktails: Experience Culinary Elegance in Norfolk
Reviews
I believe I do a fair and honest non biased job, judging the places I go out to dine. Understanding that not everybody’s palate’s the same. With that being said, we all are human beings. We know when the food and the establishment is great or when it’s poor. This dining experience was poor. The music was annoying modern R&B with no real mix. Nat king king Cole played, and I thought great, finally some real dining music. But they went right back to pop/R&B. I mean, it’s Christmas, let’s get some Christmas music going, or how about some jazz. Anyway we were served our starters, I had popcorn shrimp. Which was literally heavily salty “popcorn” and shrimp mixed together, which was complete nonsense. The shrimp dip I was served was so very salty I could barely even deal
with it,
honestly it was treacherous. Looking at entrees, I ask about the lobster and come to find out. The majority of their seafood is frozen, yes frozen, yet they charge “premium” prices, which is nothing but a rip off and disrespect to the customers. Not to mention they force a 20% gratuity. Telling the diners, that you tip them regardless whether you like the service or not which is treacherous, what happened to earn your tip. So your going to take money out of my account and I don’t even know if the service is worth it or not. Anyway, we played it safe trying to avoid frozen and ordered a 6oz filet for “$40”. I mean $40 for 6oz fillet. I thinking 8oz filet for $40 but not 6. Which clearly was cooked completely wrong. We both ordered a medium rare and got a medium well. The broccolini was cold with gigantic undercooked stalks laid across my plate. Mashed potatoes that were more like a puree, very thin and flat. How in the world can you cook food like this, and charge the premium prices that you’re charging just baffles me. My steak looked and tasted frozen. I mean even my ice pepsi was flat with no fizz or bite to it, come on, make it make sense. I promise you skip this establishment. Any positive reviews are misleading. People read my reviews and they look at my pictures.
I have almost 3 million clicks from people reading my reviews, because I tell the “truth”. Forgot to mention, the seating was so uncomfortable. I’d rather have sat kindergarten style on the floor. They were having job interviews during dinner service near right near our table, who does that.
I will absolutely never go back to this underwhelming establishment. It was our anniversary when we chose this place. And it was a complete disappointment. Whoever the “chef” is. Has no idea what upscale dining is all about.
Chef’s Kitchen and Cocktails is a true hidden gem! We started with the lobster spring rolls crispy, flavorful, and paired with an amazing dipping sauce. For entrées, the whole fried snapper with plantains and seasoned rice was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and the Cajun shrimp pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. Every dish was fresh, well-seasoned, and plated with care.
The atmosphere is cozy yet upscale, and the service was warm and attentive from start to finish. This place delivers both on taste and presentation definitely a must-visit for a memorable night out!
