Ok, so any review above 2 stars is someone that works there for sure, or family. The food was the absolute worst I’ve ever had in my 40 years of eating general tso’s chicken all over the world. My rice shouldn’t be rice soup, and they literally just sprinkled pizza crushed red pepper all over it with zero veggies. The portion was prison size and the ‘water’ was CARBONATED from the machine! Horrible horrible horrible. But the place is nice and the service was great everyone was very polite and extremely nice. The food was just trash. They need to get a different cook in the back and then they’ll be ok

Service was good. Beef was a lil pink in the middle, every piece was, general chicken was WAY too hot not enough flavor, the large portion which costs almost twosome as much is not much bigger then the small, the beef and broccoli had half of a container of broth, noodles were bland(lol mein) fried rice was even more bland, half of it was like white. I’d honestly recommend somewhere else this place sucked!!

Fresh & made to order! I asked the owner, who was taking our order, for something vegetarian With a little heat. She said OK. And between she and her husband, they made one of the most amazing vegetable dishes that had Ginger and garlic oil with a little bit of back heat. The vegetables were still crunchy And the rice was cooked perfectly.
The crab rangoon are the best I’ve ever had. Filled with cream cheese & crispy.
Love this restaurant & the owners. It’s Immaculately clean. And if you Don’t know what to order, ask them & they will help you and make it a special order for you!
No question this is now my new favorite Chinese in town!

China Express has solidified itself as my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Sioux Falls area. First of all, I have to address how they have by far the best crab rangoons in town. While most other restaurants have been skimping on the filling in recent years, theirs are stuffed. Their proteins are generous and not mostly breading like other places. They have an order at the counter setup and your food will come to you on styrofoam plates and with plastic silverware, which I personally don’t mind. The interior is extremely neat and tidy, not to mention inside (I believe) an old bank, making for some interesting interior design. The woman behind the counter, I assume to be the owner, knows the menu very well and will make extra sure you are ordering exactly what you want.

My husband and I stopped in around 1:30ish on 9/14/25 and we were the only ones in there. I had not been there in a few years and my husband (in my 20 plus years with him) can’t remember ever being in there, but remembers a buffet. We were passing it going down 41st and made a note we would eat there soon, then the thought got stuck in my husbands head, and thats what he wanted for lunch.

Their menu is quick and easy to read if you already know what type of Chinese food you like.
The portions are large for the price. Food isn’t heavily breaded like other establishments in Sioux Falls. It’s made fresh after you order and ready in minutes.
My husband doesn’t have about food often but he hasn’t stopped talking about it all afternoon/evening. Its now after 10 pm and he’s still talking about it and how excited he is to have his left overs for lunch tomorrow.

Overall the food was good. I was a little disappointed in the quantity of food we received for the price. Seemed a bit higher than other similar restaurants. I would definitely try again.

Food looked better than it tasted. We ordered two small portions and spent over 30 dollars. Food portions were very small with a tiny portion of rice, the taste was mediocre at best. Couldn’t finish my meal due to the rice being absolutely soaked in sauce though I was fine leaving my leftovers since the taste was lacking. Everything was served on paper plates and paper cups, the silverware was also plastic and very flimsy, could barely pick up broccoli. The atmosphere was as if we were eating in a hospital cafeteria and the taste of the food definitely reflects that. You’d be better off going to Panda Express than going here. Would not recommend.

Small portions for what you pay. Served on styrofoam plates, plastic forks, and paper cups. I felt like I was eating from a lunch truck.
