A new American-style restaurant with a twist, has opened in town and is run by some familiar faces. Over in Hamden Stephen Barraco and Michael Migliaro run Café Amici an Italian restaurant that has been around for the past 11 years. The two decided to look into North Haven to start their second restaurant Amici Tavern which opened its doors to the public on Nov. 15 2015. With an already popular restaurant, Barraco and Migliaro wanted to open something different. That’s when the idea for an all-American Steak House Tavern was born.

We stopped in for a bite on the way to Tweed and it wasn’t anything to talk about. It was a nice little spot and we enjoyed sitting outside but other than that it was eh. The food wasn’t terrible but not worth what we paid. The grilled romaine was pretty good but would have been better with black beans. The French Onion was so so and the Korean BBQ with tots was not my favorite. I can’t complain about the service but once the food came we felt forgotten. We felt the check was a little hefty for what we had for food. Again not an awful experience.

Delicious meal and friendly staff. Grilled romaine salad with Blackened chicken was excellent. My daughter said the bacon cheeseburger was the best she’s ever eaten and my hubby loved the pastrami burger.

I brought my dog with me to meet a friend for lunch. We say out on the patio.
The waitress treated my dog like any other patron, gave her lots of love and attention, bright water out to her right away.
The food was delicious. I don’t live local but will definitely go back. Penny, my dog, gives it 20 tail wags 5 starts

Pork and goat cheese empanadas were great, as were the tavern burger and Korean chicken sandwich. Opted for Brussels sprouts as the side for my sandwich and they were crispy and plentiful!

Drake the dog is a regular on the outdoor patio, and while definitely a beggar, is very well behaved.
This will definitely be a future stop!

Amici Tavern is a fantastic place to kick back and enjoy great food and live music. We sat at the bar and had a great time—the bartender was excellent and made us feel right at home. The hot wings were some of the best we’ve had, and the calzones were absolutely delicious. They also have a solid selection of beer on tap, which made it even better. The live music added a fun, energetic vibe to the night. Whether you’re local or just visiting Covington, Amici Tavern is definitely worth the stop!
