The south side cafeteria, the sandwiches were soggy in the warmer to long. The next morning about 445am looking for a hot breakfast again premade sandwiches and were prepared cold, not made to order. Coffee was great every time. The one lady making quesadillas for the employees hot, and told me that they are already made. In the warmer. Was there 3 days. Hospital and the nurses was outstanding. Need to take care of the people that are with family. Speaking of the food service only.

The Park Ave. Cafe is a highlight of the “food scene” at the hospital. The Southside Cafeteria is terrible, bland, understocked, and overpriced. The Panera is sort of a Panera Lite. But even without those to compare it to, the Cafe is inexpensive, friendly, with healthy-sized portions, and a good selection. Wander back to the Old Building and check it out.

Most of the time I get exceptional service here. But lately the service and quality of the product has declined. I have been going to the deli for years and yesterday I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The lady who made my sandwich was new but had been there for several months. She took my pulled pork sandwich and pressed it in a panini press and passed me this sandwich that was soggy and inedible. I told her that this is the incorrect way to prepare the sandwich and if she just gave me the proper bread I would switch the sandwich on to the new bread. She refused to fix my sandwich correctly and then the young Korean gentleman (who happens to be the owners son) at the register came over and said this is “her special way” to make the sandwich. He was very rude and said even though you have been coming here for years she is new… this is how she fixes it and walked away. I was very upset and I had never experienced such horrible customer service or such horrible food preparation EVER! This will definitely change my patronage to this Deli and even though Panera is a further walk away I would rather walk over where I can receive consistent food products and good customer service. I will keep my money in my pocket. As far as all of the customers and patients that I regularly recommended to Park Ave on a weekly basis over the past 12 years I have been a customer, I can just refer them somewhere else from now on…

What should have initially happened was that the food should have just been prepared correctly and the owner’s son should not have argued down a patron. Your response blames the worker for a mistake that could have easily been corrected… What is the explanation for the son of the owner of the deli having such a rude disposition?

This is a very sad place! I have come here as a visitor for five consecutive days and have not been greeted once. Associates are busier talking to each other rather than helping customers. Managers (no uniform) appear miserable serving food or are not seen at all.

Food is what one imagines as hospital food, tasteless and loveless, but the time for that has long passed. Get creative, others do it too!

And BTW, smile, it goes a long way!

Food is bland and flavorless. I tried the pesto sanwich and chicken salad on two different occassions, for reference. Employees are nice and efficient when there’s a crowd.

The employees here are sooooo sweet. We were having a terrible day and they went out of their way way to cheer up my kids.

The food was delicious. My kids loved the pizza and I had a terrific sandwich. Lots of healthy and comfort food options.

Cynthia at Starbucks at INOVA Fairfax Women and Children’s Hospital has been the bright spot for my time here staying with a surgical patient. I go downstairs to buy coffee and snacks multiple times a day to be lifted up by her wonderful positive words. She is very personable and a rare and truly caring person. She is for real! She remembers her customers. Cynthia is a fabulous ambassador for this Starbucks and for Fairfax INOVA hospital.
