Big beer selection, spacious patio & various Laotian dishes offered in a bright, casual sports bar.

Delicious Lao food! They have a variety of authentic Lao food to choose from. I love that they make things actually spicy when you ask. There is ample seating from inside to outside. They also have beer on tap!
I definitely recommend the Papaya Salad.

We are regulars at this spot and we love everything on the menu! The Nam Khao is a favorite. The noodle soups are amazing. AND! Best of all there is the option to make many dishes vegan. So there is something for everyone if you have a group of friends like mine with several different dietary needs. The atmosphere is cute and cozy. There is usually a sports game on the tv (muted) and fun music playing at a reasonable volume. The staff are great and we have always felt welcome and comfortable here. I highly recommend checking this spot out if you haven’t been.

Super cute place, the outdoor patio/seating area has a nice atmosphere. We ordered extra extra spicy and ngl, died a little bit. So it’s legit foreal spicy, they aren’t lying when they tell you it’s spicy. Always add the extra funk when ordering the papaya salad. Super dank, reminded me of home, really authentic.

The good:
The food was BOMB. Super delicious.
We got multiple things, (wings, mango sticky rice, crispy rice and a chicken dish) and they were all phenomenal.
The bad:
The service is nonexistent at best, insolent at worst.
Ordering at the counter and bussing your own table is pretty standard in Portland, but the lady working seemed bothered by us being there at all.
She was irritated when we came up to order and was even more annoyed when we came in a second time because we didn’t know where the silverware was. (She knew we were dining in, but didn’t bring it with our food and didn’t tell us where it was.)
There was some type of catered event happening inside and they were playing loud music, music. We sat outside to get away from the noise, but then they started blaring the music outside as well. It was a very unwelcoming atmosphere.
Overall, I would go back for the food and I’ll hope that whoever is working isn’t rude.

The food is great. It is as closed to being authentic as there is. If you enjoy spicy and bursting flavors then you gotta give this place a try. Love their beef jerkys. It’s spicy but then again, it is Lao style jerky.

Whoa, this place makes REALLY tasty Lao food. I’ve become accustomed to subpar Southeast Asian restaurants in Portland, so I really wasn’t expecting much when I stepped inside with my friend. The place is really nicely decorated, clean, and cute, which added to our skepticism, as a lot of authentic restaurants tend to be simple or even dingy. They offer a lot of good Lao comfort dishes, for people who are new to the cuisine as well as those who already have favorites. Their special of pork belly fried sticky rice is extremely delicious, packed with flavor and spice in every bite and fresh ingredients. My friend was blown away by the quality of the food, and she’s one to be easily disappointed if things aren’t done right. It’s also fairly priced here which adds to how wonderful the experience is. I’m definitely coming back and trying more on the menu sometime, and I’ve already recommended it to a couple of people.

I’ve eaten here a few times, both sit down and take out. Pretty disappointed in the tom yum… no tang, no spice, tough chicken. Gave a third star since I really liked the nam khao I had here previously. Not sure if I’ll be back.

I will die on the hill that Cully Central is one of the best food spots in Portland and easily in my top 5, possibly top 3! I see other reviews say it’s too salty- I love salty/savory so if you don’t, keep that in mind. The Nam Khao is my favorite and I genuinely feel sad whenever I finish it because there isn’t more. Second favorite is the Tom Yum. Amazing on a cold and rainy day. Lao sausage- amazing. Wings- delicious. Everything I’ve tried has been flav-or-ful. Anytime someone asks me where they should eat in town, I say Cully Central. In fact, I’m craving some now!

This place has become one of my favorite restaurants in town. it’s a 10/10 in the food department and the drinks are cheap. The flavors that they are cooking up in here are really bright herbal flavors combined with savory perfectly. It’s also just a less common flavor profile among our more common Asian restaurants in town. You gotta get down here.
