Pretty decent food for a small town. We were hard pressed to find vegan food around these parts that stay open reasonably late. Super tired of Thai food so of course, options are limited. My husband normally avoids cheese but on these kinds of trips he compromises and eats it. He actually loved his pizza. The fried artichoke salad was pretty good and the pasta with chunky sauce was quite flavorful. It’s nice I could get it without cheese. Server was nice and efficient.

The food is exceptional — particularly the chicken parm. I visit from CT ~ 1x per year, and this is THE BEST every time (consistent, for 3-4 years) — and excellent value. The pasta special (perhaps a play on steak Marsala, plus spinach and tomatoes) was phenomenal — per my wife’s very high standards. This restaurant [and chef] is underrated with anything less than 4.8/5.

I took my daughter here the night before we were both running a half-marathon to carbo-load. First and foremost, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. It is simply great, traditional Italian food as good as any you would find in the North End. I had the baked penne which was perfectly prepared and arrived piping hot. For dessert we shared the chocolate cake which was almost like a lava cake with a runny chocolate core topped with ice cream. The service was also excellent – we never waited long for anything, and we were happy to get in and out of there reasonably quickly so we could get some needed rest.
I would also like to share what happened afterwards. My daughter discovered she had left her airpods in the restaurant – long after it had closed. We were dismayed to find out it would not open again until Tuesday – long after we would be making the 4-hour drive back to Boston. The next week I called to see if they had found them. They reported they had not, but would contact me if they did. To my surprise I received a call the next day from one of the staff reporting they had been found. At that point I made what I had to admit was an unusual request to ask if they might mail them to us at our home and I could repay them via venmo or something. They said they would have to ask the manager and would again get back to us. Shortly thereafter I received a call from the manager asking to confirm my name and address. He refused to accept any payment, and happily we received them within a few days. It is nice to know that it is not just a good restaurant but that it is run by good people. I will definitely be visiting again when I return to mid-coast Maine!

Rustica Cucina is an absolute gem. While it’s not always open, a common theme in Maine, when it is we are sure to enjoy. The Bolognese is my fave but dont be afraid to get the Baked Penne or even the Alfredo, they do not disappoint. The prices are excellent for the quality so don’t shy away. The restaurant is steps away from Harbor Park, so if you’re in on a cruise, walking the boardwalk, or milling about Downton you’re merely steps away. Enjoy!

Wow! My husband booked a table for our birthday whilst we were staying in the area.
Great atmosphere although it was very busy. Service was good but the food …the food was outstanding! I think the best pasta dish I have ever had. The depth of flavor, the quality, the portion size….amazing!
The tiramisu…..just make room that’s all I’ll say!
This is a must visit place just make sure you book a table!

We went here for my 50yh birthday recently. The food was good, the drinks, especially the espresso martini, we’re excellent. Tables are quite small and they were short servers. The server we did have, 1 for all 13 of us, was very nice. I would try it again.

We have lived in Maine for 7 years and this is the best restaurant we’ve found, period. The food was fresh and prepared to perfection, the service was timely and attentive but never overly so, and the atmosphere was lovely. And even though it is a somewhat smallish space, and they were filled to capacity with a waiting list, the dining room did not feel crowded. Perfection.

The only thing I didn’t like was the pizza it just tasted like a frozen pizza. I’m a pizza snob, so it’s hard for me to find a great pizza. I’m sure a lot of people enjoy it.
We ordered caviteli saltimbocca, chicken parm, shrimp picatta fettuccine, pasta rossa, fried calamari, artichoke salad, house salads, goat cheese pizza
Just a suggestion revamp the menu a little.
Add a couple more steak options and sea food dishes.
Over all its a nice place.
