+ Seated and order taken immediately for Monday night prime rib special. Had made reservation, but turns out they were not needed as there were only one or two other patrons present.
+ Waitress was very capable and attentive and gave us choices for sides to accompany the steaks.
+ Food was prepared in reasonable time (given no competing orders).
+ Steak was OUTSTANDING! Ridiculously thick and large cuts, super juicy and tender. Even well-done was margarine-soft!
+Sides were excellent as well.
+ Dessert (lava cakes and ice cream) were large enough to split 3 ways.
+Check was managed at the table with handheld device and cc.
0 (neutral) Price of about $40 was reasonable for huge rib steak (took home half of each), garlic green beans, and potatoes/fries/onion rings, and lava cake and pareve ice cream.
So it sounds like a fabulous evening, right???
BUT…
-Despite a seat “away from door”, the place is tiny and there is no barrier between open door and seating area.
-Restaurant was very cold throughout the meal and cold gusts from the door occurred on each opening.
-By the end of the meal, the room was 60 degrees and dropping. The waitress told us there had been numerous complaints to management but nothing changed.
-We seriously ate with coat and fingerless gloves on.
We were surprised by how few patrons were there when we entered, as every other Monday night had been packed and sometimes the specials sold out. Clearly, guests don’t want to eat in 60 degree restaurant.
Considering the difference in number of patrons this visit, the management would be well-advised to do something (anything) quickly to remedy the situation. My personal recommendations include baseboard heating around room and a door barrier. While there are other space and cosmetic issues that would improve the place, heating must be the first task.
Such a shame this terrific restaurant is facing (and will continue) to face poor attendance due to physical issues that influence customer comfort. I guess our next visit will be in the spring.
The ambience leaves a lot to desire. Decor is unattractive (in my opinion) and the room was very noisy.
My wife and I split the 1 pound prime rib special. We also split a garden salad. Instead of mashed potatoes,we had two orders of string beans. Everything was excellent. I was a bit disappointed that the prime rib didn’t come on the bone, but it was excellent nonetheless.
I highly recommend the Club Deli and Grill, especially on Monday evening after 4pm when they have the Prime Rib special.
The Club Deli & Grill in Pikesville is a kosher restaurant that has a large prime rib special on Mondays. My wife and I split the prime rib special with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggie medley. It was all delicious, and there was plenty for both of us with the one order plus salad. The salads were big enough that we could have split one salad. The prime rib came on the bone. It was outstanding.
The restaurant is small so if you’re coming for dinner, I recommend making a reservation. This is an excellent kosher restaurant.
I’ll start off with the positives. The service was quite good, and the food wasn’t terrible, even if the portion sizes weren’t massive. The place has a sort of rustic feel, so if you’re into that, it’s quite nice.
That said, there were a few issues, though that could just be because this place is new, and has yet to find its footing. For one, it’s pretty small and there are a lot of tables crammed into the space. It’s also poorly insulated, and every time the door opened, the temperature dropped noticeably, and we were seated as far from the doors as possible.
The food was just okay, it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. The prices are quite high when compared to other similar places in town, and when it comes to both food and portion sizes, I’m afraid it just does not deliver. That said, there were a couple of items my wife and I did enjoy.
Service was pretty good, but I had to ask for things several times before they were brought, and more than once something was completely forgotten. And once things got busy, service was basically non-existent.
All in all, it’s a nice place to try once, but unless there are some serious changes, I don’t see myself coming back again anytime soon.
