I live in this area about half the summer, and so I frequent the Fur Trapper at least once a week. This is an EXCELLENT restaurant. The food is terrific, high quality, and well and carefully prepared. The service is excellent as well. I have never had a meal that was not terrific, or service that was not terrific in the years I have been going here. The owners work very hard to have a family friendly place with excellent food and service. I understand that the bartender, Jared, also makes a world-class margarita. Run, do not walk, to this restaurant. And by all means, enjoy the old cowboy moves that play in the dining room!

With out a doubt one of the best fish and chips i have eaten. We are full travelers in our RV so we have eaten meals all over the country. We stopped here for lunch yesterday for their fish fry (every Friday) and we impressed. The fresh cod had a great batter crust and done perfectly. Service was friendly and good.
Their general menu seemed quite good with and emphasis on burgers and steak.
If we were staying in the area we would be here again and again.

We did dinner here a night when we just couldn’t muster up messing up our kitchen. The owner was super friendly and helpful. The menu is the perfect amount of choices. We had the chilled shrimp for an appetizer and the chicken alferado to share. I loved the theme of the restaurant and everyone was so nice to be around. Thank you!

Stopped in for a quick lunch with the family before we went fishing. Servers were friendly and prompt from the start. We started with the crab cakes which everyone loved. We ordered a variety of burgers and sandwiches, besides two of the burgers being a little past the cook temp we requested everything was awesome! Would definitely stop here again next time we come to fish.

Service was slow, but I guess acceptable since there was a wonderful live singer entertaining us and a beautiful lake. My Cajun catfish had zero seasoning and the fries that came with were not cooked all the way and zero seasoning. They brought me more because when the nice waitress brought the food she didn’t understand the lack of fries. The second batch were cooked and salted great so that was good. My husband’s steak had no seasoning but cooked okay, and the mashed potatoes seemed like they had been sitting for hours with no seasoning as well?? The bread that came with his was the most flavorful thing there.
We won’t be back but hope to find other live entertainment around the area.

We ordered take out twice before getting to eat on the patio. Patio views of gorgeous Lake Vallecito. Everything is good here! Spinach dip is a super starter, steaks cooked to perfection, loved the burgers, baked potatoes, desserts. Waitstaff was attentive and very personable. Chicken fried steak was generously portioned and yummy!

Very enjoyable local restaurant! Good food! Reasonable prices. Great service. Was there on Saturday Oct 10 evening. Live music by a single male artist and very very good easy listening music, very very enjoyable as well. Great mountain setting. We had the catfish, very good, and the chicken fried steak, very good! Highly recommend this establishment

Stopped for a late lunch and so glad we did! Venue was nice, we sat outside. Service was good, and food was delicious!!! We got the volcano shrimp, spinach artichoke dip, chicken Caesar salad, and Jamie’s famous meatloaf. Also grabbed some banana bread…mmmm!!!!
