Reviews
The menu had a solid variety of steaks and other dishes, but we were in the mood for something hearty, so we both went with steak dinners, which came with several sides.
Opti Roll (complimentary):
These rolls were a pleasant surprise — warm, golden, and slightly salty on the outside with soft, fluffy insides. The whipped butter melted right in and added just the right touch of richness. Simple, but really satisfying.
House Salad (included):
A generous bowl of crisp greens topped with crunchy croutons and bits of savory bacon. It had a nice balance of freshness and flavor, and for a complimentary side, the quality was surprisingly high.
Onion Rings & Fries (included, all-you-can-eat):
The onion rings were standout. Thick-cut, perfectly crispy, well-seasoned on the outside with hot, tender onion inside. Honestly, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The fries were solid too, but the rings definitely stole the show.
Chopped Steak:
The steak was juicy, tender, and cooked just right, with a great sear on the outside. The texture reminded us more of a high-quality burger patty — rich and meaty, in the best way. We both really enjoyed it.
Ice Cream (separate order):
This dessert was a winner — creamy vanilla ice cream with cookie crumbles mixed in. What made it special was a drizzle of olive oil layered in, which added a subtle nuttiness and a super smooth mouthfeel. Not overly sweet, just refreshing and delicious. One of the best ice creams I’ve had in a while.
Overall, we had an awesome time. The food hit the spot, the service was friendly, and the live music gave the evening a laid-back, feel-good vibe. If you’re into casual dining with great food and live tunes, this place is definitely worth a visit.
They were really fun and so casual it did feel like a little jam but in true Nashville fashion (rare nowadays) it was top notch.
The food:
Wow.
The steak dinners are so good. You get unlimited rolls and fries/onion rings with your steak along with a fantastic starter salad. My t-bone was perfect. The filet was a tad well done but the flavor was still great. Or drink picks were gin and tonic and filthy martinis
We finished the evening off with a dreamsicle float.
Your bill includes the musician fees so don’t eat and run! Hang out, listen and drink up. The Coors banquets are only 4 bucks!
Can’t wait to go back.
The food was delicious, and the service was just as great. After dinner, we went upstairs to ring in the New Year, where we were treated to a champagne toast. The drinks were very good, and the atmosphere made the night even more special.
We will definitely be returning for dinner again and also look forward to trying Optimist next door. I highly recommend Star Rover Sound for a great dining experience and celebration spot.
My dad and I came here for Easter brunch today and it was so freaking amazing. Pancakes and eggs with any meat you pick and those pancakes could’ve been an item of their own. I’ve never had pancakes like that. My dad barely saved me any to share because they were that good. Liquid gold syrup. I could really write this raving review just of that. My dad had their chopped steak and yes – best he ever had. I had the chicken fried chicken and yup – best I ever had. Didn’t even think to ask for hot sauce (which I always do when I order chicken) Onion rings WOW. Fries WOW. Everything was so unbelievably yummy I cannot wait for a repeat brunch menu.
I had a freak accident with the ketchup bottle and the staff and manager were so sweet to help me clean up and make sure I was okay. It was a mini mess but a good chunk of my top was damp from wiping my clothes off as they kept bringing me wet rags for my hands, sleeves, top until I was comfortable/clean to continue eating. Which, wet clothes or not, I couldn’t wait to get back to my meal lol.
Thank you for the amazing food and service! It was a great Easter meal.
If you love discovering new favorites, this is the place to be. As a devoted fan of The Optimist (their incredible sister spot), I was thrilled to find Star Rover Sound delivers the same creative flair—just with a heartier, feel-good twist. Think warm, soulful comfort food served up with a side of seriously good live music.
The skirt steak? An absolute must. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and crave-worthy—I’d come back for that alone, and have. It’s cooked to perfection every. single. time. The vibe inside is pure Nashville charm: a modern honky-tonk dream with cozy booths, and that easygoing energy that makes you want to stay awhile.
Drinks are always spot-on (never a miss), and the service? Truly next-level. Friendly, fast, and always on point.
Whether you’re coming for a night out with friends or a laid-back dinner with live tunes, Star Rover Sound hits all the right notes. 10/10 recommend!
I haven’t been truly impressed by a place in a long, long time. From the intimate ambiance to the thoughtful details and attentive service—it was an experience. Apparently, there was a live band scheduled, but since we didn’t have reservations, we had to leave a bit early.
The menu? Simple and to the point. No overwhelming list of options—just pick your steak, tell them how you want it cooked, and they take care of the rest. Perfect.
We started with two rolls of warm, super-yummy bread—honestly, more like amazing.
Next came a generously sized salad for each of us. And wow—what was that?! Fresh lettuce, a few rings of onion, crisp cucumbers, the most amazing croutons, and a creamy blue cheese dressing that wasn’t overpowering—just right. Topped with crispy bacon bits… it felt like it was made with love. I practically inhaled it.
Then came the steak—served on a bed of melted brown butter. What??? It was perfect. Melt-in-your-mouth perfection. Alongside came a basket of crispy wedge fries and golden onion rings. Folks, this place is no joke.
And then—dessert. I ordered a single scoop of ice cream, expecting the usual. Instead, it came in a drinking glass, layered with saltine crackers, a hint of salt, and who knows what else—but it was hands down the best ice cream I’ve had in a long time. Maybe I’m exaggerating… but you really need to go try it for yourself to understand what I mean!
To the team: amazing job. Thank you! I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.
