Opening in 2006, Liv’s Oyster Bar quickly became a dining destination in Old Saybrook. Inspired by his daughter, Olivia, and years of experience in the restaurant industry, owner John Brescio set out with a desire to welcome the community to his family’s table. While visiting Saybrook Ct. Someone mentioned Liv’s Oyster Bar and Restaurant to us. We sat at the bar to have cocktails and dinner and we were fortunate enough to have Jamie as our bartender, server and food connoisseur. Jamie was very helpful to us for our decisions on dinner and appetizers. She was spot on with her knowledge of the food that they serve. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

What a great little spot! Amazing food, with the focus on raw bar and seafood. Nice atmosphere, great service. Extensive wine list. Nice artisan cocktail list. The truffle fries are amazing! I had the scallops and they were seared to perfection. My friend’s salmon looked equally delicious. I would definitely go back. Very nice dining experience.

Have passed this place many times but because it is setback from the facade we never knew it was there. I discovered it on social media and was intrigued by the oysters at Happy Hour. My partner took advantage of the Rhode Island Oysters and clams on half shell. She loved them. I had the Wagyu “sliders” which were great. I was a little disappointed in the stuffed clams. I think there was too much Old Bay added to the dish. Service by both Brian our bartender and Bill the “sultan of shucking” was outstanding. We got there at 4:15 and it was fairly empty. By the time we left the bar was completely full and dining room was filling up, and that was on a Tuesday. I think the Happy Hour was a big hit. We absolutely will be back.

I have been to Liv’s many times, but this past Saturday was truly incredible. The French 75 cocktail was perfect. The oysters were superb. The parmesan crusted cod with mushroom risotto was outrageous. Perfect elevated comfort food. The blackened tuna was expertly done. Perfect spice with no bitter char. The accompaniments were creative and outstanding. I’ve always enjoyed Liv’s, but this was truly exceptional!!

THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTEY AMAZING!!!!! I got the Black Pearl cocktail and it was incredible!!! The ambiance of this place is comforting and exciting! Every time I come here it’s always a home run!!! No matter what you order!!! Mikey the executive chef is so innovative and creative with his dishes!!! It’s a pleasure coming to eat here with such great food and an amazing staff!!! This was our second time eating at Liv’s. We had forgotten how good it was the last time we went and had to try again. We sat at the bar and Jamie was our bartender. She was personable and attentive to our needs and provided a great experience. We were there during happy hour and had two dozen oysters, 6 clams, along with an order of stuffed clams. We also had 2 eell made old fashioned drinks. HIGHLY recommend Liv’s when im Old Saybrook.

We have been here for happy hour and dinner a few times. Usually we sit outside. The wait staff are always pleasant and attentive and usually don’t miss a beat. Best place in town for oysters. The mussels on the current menu are the best I have ever had.
