This place is very hot and popular right now but we were underwhelmed with the food. I am in awe of the amazing servers who deal with the stairs, indoor/outdoor and kitchen delays. The kitchen is totally tiny!

The scallops were the best. Bao did not live up to hype. Flatbread ok.

I think this is a place to come with a large/work group to get charcuterie platters and seafood towers. Not great for dinner for 2.

Def fav local. Best raw oysters in the county. Lots of unique specialty opportunities. This new salmon scallop roll is to die for. Great outside deck, inside bar, dining inside and out. Update. New Nigiri Flight and Tale of Two Crudos are amazing. So worthy.

Caitlin was an excellent server and made our experience so much sweeter! We were celebrating a birthday and she was so attentive and helpful breaking down the menu for us. Food came quick and it was delicious. Ordered the Oysters, Poke Crisps, Bolognese, and all four bao buns. Definitely will be coming back! Hard to find such great service and food in this area, so it was an outstanding treat! Cheers!

We made an impromptu dinner reservation and arrived early, hoping to check out the bar scene and grab a drink. As soon as we walked in, the bartender and server warmly greeted us, seated us right away, and brought water—everyone was incredibly friendly from the start.

We were seated in a beautiful, cool old house, which set a great atmosphere for the evening. We began with the caviar, which was wonderful, followed by bao buns. My fish and chicken were cooked perfectly, and the Brussels sprouts ended up being my favorite dish—featuring a slight Asian flair with lightly crispy tofu that really stood out.

After dinner, we ordered an espresso martini and a whiskey, both prepared perfectly. Beyond the excellent food, what really made the night special was the friendliness and outstanding service. Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish.

Great place and the menu changes about a couple times per year so be sure to check it out. We tried the wings, bolagnase, bao bites and the peanut butter dessert. Absolutely everything was delicious! Kate our waiter was excellent. Even our optional cucumber water was refreshing. Looking forward to trying more.

A MUST GO! My husband and I ate here the night we stayed in Daytona Beach on our way up the Coast toward Boston. Fabulous little restaurant. Cute place, small, but not noisy, very comfortable. Initially we were seated an an upstairs high top on the second floor, but those are hard for me given I am height challenged and waiter very kindly moved us without any fuss to a 4 top on main floor, even though it was a Saturday night and the place was quite full. Service was great, extremely attentive, lots of small plates so they come out when they are ready. Everything was SOOO good. It was very flavorful, and very inventive. We shared the Brussels Sprouts, which were tossed in a maple bourbon gochujang glaze, served with fried tofu, scallions, walnuts and dried cranberries. Delicious! We also shared the Masala Meatballs, which were my favorite. They were beef and chorizo, served in tikka curry sauce with shaved Parmesan. So creative, and they were melt in your mouth. We also split three bao buns in half. They were great, but we especially liked the fried green tomato one with remoulade pickled carrots and scallions. We were totally stuffed but ended with a shared piece of peanut pie! Yum, never had anything like it. Delicious! While I have zero interest in returning to Daytona Beach as a destination (it was Biker Week, aaahhh!), if I found myself anywhere nearby, I would definitely come back here. Inventive cuisine, great setting and friendly and efficient service at a very fair price. Doesn’t get batter than that!

From the moment we walked into this quaint, lovely restaurant we felt at home. If we lived in this area this would be our Friday night spot every week! If you go, our recommendation would be to try a little of everything. The oysters were perfection, the bao buns were phenomenal and the gnocchi balls had the perfect amount of spice. They have a small selection of big plates but honestly I love their small plates and tapas. The charcuterie board looked amazing. And that bar!!! As we had just the perfect cocktails made by Danielle we enjoyed looking up their unique brands of bourbon and tequilas. Top shelf everywhere. Our waitress Jenny was so sweet as well. The owner was so accommodating and friendly. Thank you to all and kudos to the chef for a fantastic evening and can’t wait to come back next year.

I really wanted to like this place.

After hearing rave reviews from friends about sovereign for years, wife and I finally had an opportunity to stop in for our once-annual dinner out alone (small kids at home).

Sat at the bar, and the bartender was attentive at first but then had his back turned to us making drinks for the private party upstairs the entire rest of the evening after we ordered. No check backs. Empty drinks sat forever until I waived down someone else.

At least we were somewhat entertained by an older seemingly over served gentlemen sleeping (or passing out) at the bar. He eventually earned a second chance out of the doghouse by drinking a coffee per the staffs prescription. Seemed like a nice enough guy, but this is not the venue for that.

Back to the experience – we had to waive down other staff for assistance with cold meatballs and cold fish soup (boullebaise) since again, the bartender was MIA/ knee-deep in drink orders. They took the soup back when we told them it was cold, brought it back a few minutes later and it was the exact same temperature. They did nothing with it – the same amount of broth was on the spoon. Same luke warm temperature.

The food has potential, but they have a big service issue. Manager Danielle was compassionate and doing her best, but this place has serious quality control (temperature) and service issues.

Maybe it was an off night, but disappointing for a special occasion nonetheless.

Nice staff and great food. I had a specialty burger that they added to the menu for a competition among local restaurants to determine the best hamburger in town. My husband had the filet. Both dishes were excellent. It is best to make reservations. I can’t wait to go back and try their fried rice with spam! You can get it with chicken shrimp, tofu, or spam. I got the burger this time because it was a specialty for just this week.

Some servers take your order…Shawn takes control of the timeline. The moment Shawn approached our table, I felt reality slightly recalibrate. If you’re seated in his section, you didn’t just come out to eat — you were selected by fate.

Here are three indisputable facts about our experience:
• The Mind-Reader Method: Shawn didn’t ask follow-up questions. He already knew. Before I finished speaking, he nodded like, “Yes, that’s exactly what you want,” and somehow it was. I’m convinced he could order for you before you even sit down.
• The Phantom Check-In: Shawn appeared at our table exactly when we needed him — not a second too early, not a second too late. It was like he was monitoring us from another dimension, popping in precisely when a refill, napkin, or emotional support was required.
• The Aura of Excellence: The food wasn’t just good — it was elevated. Plates hit the table and immediately tasted better, as if Shawn’s presence unlocked a hidden flavor profile. Even the vibes improved. The atmosphere upgraded itself.

Shawn doesn’t “wait tables.” He runs the experience. Tips are not optional — they’re a sign of respect.
