Well, it has taken me way too long to finally make it but I was extra proactive on this trip to my hometown and booked a spot early. What an experience! I can’t recommend it enough. I think we had courses coming for something like 3.5 hours. I’ve done tasting menus before but this was on a whole other level. Mark and Jen were spectacular hosts and Mark had us dying laughing between moments of food induced ecstasy and educational question answering. If you have the chance to make it, I’d say it lives up to the hype for sure.

I’ve been wanting to go to Kadence since I heard about it two years ago and finally got a chance to go when I was in town. Food was great and desserts were awesome too! Mark and Jen made the experience fun and enjoyable. We’ll be joining them again very soon for their couples sushi class!

This was one of the best Omakase dining experiences. If you’re looking for amazing food, great ambiance, and top-tier service, Kadence is the place to be! Giselle is absolutely amazing and makes the experience even more worth it. Definitely, will be returning.

I had the pleasure of tasting some of the best sushi I’ve ever had here. The service was incredible and the drinks were delicious. Also the head chef was a super cool guy. My partner and I came for the omakase and honestly we’re already planning on coming back for seconds some time in the future.

We ordered quite a bit. Couldn’t help ourselves it’s so tasty! My wife and I have been looking forward to this place for a while. Reservations are generally required, and the food is very authentic and fresh! Would come back again.

I’m actually shocked this is a Michelin starred restaurant.

I’ve done my fair share of fine dining having been to restaurants like El Central in Peru and recently Victoria & Albert’s also in Orlando, and I am trying to provide context that I know what a fine dining experience should be like.

Kadence did not come close to my expectations for the price ($350-450, depending on options) or the rating.

For starters, the vibe of this place was out there with very eclectic music including multiple Eminem songs, theme song from Giligen’s island, notorious BIG, country music, reggae, r&b, some electronic. It’s like they had the playlist on random. It didn’t have a theme that generally accompanies a fine dining restaurant of a particular food type.

Then there is the “Live nudes” neon sign in the main room. I expect this in a hip sports bar, not a Michelin starred restaurant.

The service was just average. Nothing special. No welcoming by name for a dining room that seats only 8. No recognition of two birthdays celebrating there. No recognition of dietary preferences that they ask about during the reservation.

Then there is the issue with the chef Mark. He was engaging in a bunch of topics that didn’t interest me much like stuff related to TV shows, weed, lots of F bombs and came off like he was trying to be cool. It seemed really juvenile to me.

I would have preferred something related to the craft and why we were all paying several hundred dollars each to be there. Maybe some story telling like backstory of chef or restaurant, inspirations for wanting to be a sushi chef and his origins, inspirations for dishes being created (I was in this country…), tools used in preparation (this knife is carbon steel and needs to be sharpened daily…) any historical context of dishes, more details about the various fish being served. I mean just something educational or interesting about why he is passionate about being a sushi chef, for God’s sake. We got none of that! I found it mostly boring for a 3 hour meal.

There were some weird notable comments from Mark that included:
“I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t smoke weed or drink alcohol.”
“I hate dogs.”
“Nancy Pelosi is hot”
He had to be joking on at least one of those statements but I found it very weird that these comments entered my earhole from a owner/operator trying to make a positive impression on his clientele.

On the food, it was elf sized portions as expected from a Omakase menu, but unfortunately, most of the intro dishes were “blah”.

The main course nigiri sushi set was tasty, but again, nothing outside the norms of the hundreds of other sushi places I have been to. It’s just fish and rice vinegar after all. Again it would have been nice if there was an explained reason why these fish were chosen for the menu that evening.

Temperature was a little warm inside the dining room.
Bathroom has a Japanese style toilet.

We had a reservation with a starting time, and they didn’t start dining experience on time and instead offered you to grab a drink at the bar. It kind of seemed to me that was deliberate to pump out a little more coin, but I’ll never know since I never plan on coming back.

My husband & I have had this place on our list for years and finally made the effort to making a reservation. Due to its increased demand it is definitely a little harder, but worth it! The experience was a lot of fun, every dish was delicious, and we absolutely loved it. Left full and happy! My husband even got more into sake and had fun picking out from their pretty large selection!

This restaurant did not disappoint. It is a memorable dining experience with the best fish selections, sushi preparation and team. I have been to this kind of restaurant in NYC and Boston, but Kadence far surpassed my previous “big city” omakassi experiences. We are so lucky to have this kind of sushi in Central Florida and they deserve all of the great awards that they have!

An outstanding dining experience. Kadence lived up to the hype. It has a kind of speak-easy feel. 3 distinct eating areas. There’s no signage to Kadence. Just a black building with doors. I tried the first door…and entered their sake bar…which was small, pleasant and I understood does sake and sushi. We were welcomed by a server who walked us to the Kadence Bar, a separate entrance and a whole different experience. There’s also the omakase restaurant with a 15 course menu.
Their Bar is an al a carte menu. Exceptional! A small room seating about 15 guest. My wife is vegetarian and they were accommodating with a vegetarian sushi offering. I had their chirassi bowl which was outstanding…a rice bowl with sashimi and Japanese veggies.
To finish off, I had their matcha tiramisu …yummy with just the perfect sweetness.
We will certainly be back.
