Go for the nostalgia, stay for the homemade ice cream
We were looking for a drive-in, but most aren’t open during colder months. We’re happy to find Barney’s has winter hours Weds-Sun 11am-7pm. Food is good and the ice cream is top notch!

A nice place to go and get some ice cream after the lake! They are conveniently located right off of the lake and about a mile down from the south boat entrance to clear lake. Walkable by a trail. Wish they had a dock for boats. Ice cream was good, food is all right. Nothing special or homemade. They also have nice drive-in ports similar to an A&w restaurant

Ordered a cheeseburger with onions and a root beer freeze, a cheeseburger basket, and an orange freeze. They were excellent! The burgers were juicy and tasted great!! They aren’t dry frozen patties like so many other places serve. The fries were also very good! The food is so much better than it has been in years past. (Different owners from the last time I was there) I would say they have the best burgers in town. The food is reasonably priced and quick. Skip McDonald’s and go here instead!

Have visited this drive-in many many times, unfortunately this is probably our last. More employees inside, than customers. Yet it took an hour to bring out the correct order. Over charged with food we didn’t order, confused employees, and definitely not delicious food. Unfortunately the covers on the to-go rootbeers did not fit correctly, and repeatedly fell off causing quite the sticky mess in our car. Hamburger under cooked and very pink, onion rings freezer burnt, brought out our rootbeer float completely melted a solid 20 minutes before the food and without a straw. Noticed the table near us were having issues with their order also. We gave up. Best of luck to them, not the drive-in we remember.

Such a busy place. The food was so good! My kids, who never eat anything, had no problem eating the corn dogs and ice cream. Also appreciated the games for the kids!

Great food and root beer! Everything tastes super fresh, the burger and hand-cut fries were amazing, and the honey vanilla ice cream is to die for! The new ownership is doing a great job and I’m excited to eat here this summer!

This was a fun mini road trip date night for us. It’s an old school drive-in. They bring the tray out to you, and it sits hooks onto your window. The burgers were old school style and delicious. I could hear a ventricle slamming shut so you know it’s good. So, if you are a khale tofu smoothie weirdo, this isn’t your place. Take that spit down the road to the next hipster joint.The owner operators were really laid back and were very welcoming even after we got there 10 minutes before they closed. They chatted pleasantly with us for a few minutes when our food was gone and politely kept the lights on for us as we just soaked in the experience of something old yet new. So don’t come here with the attitude of expecting the spectacular, come with getting back to basics mentality and you’ll be happy you did. Fundamentals win championships.

Thank you Barney’s Drive-In !! I’m loving Waseca’s Midwestern welcoming nature. The manager or owner was so lovely. He gave us honey/vanilla ice cream as a lovely ‘welcome back to Waseca after 22 years away’ gift’. And how’s the attention to detail? He brought two spoons out to the car .
