Great experience! First time being here and the service was great. I highly recommend the New York Italian Spicy! Plenty of seating and the vibe in the shop was chill. If you want a good sandwich without spending an arm and a leg, this is your shop! Definitely will be back.

Wes and Carlos are the best sandwich artists west of the Mississippi. In all seriousness, I love this location and my husband and I probably single-handedly could keep them in business. Even more impressive, they have our orders memorized. They will customize your sandwich however you want and take care in balancing flavors. I realize this sounds a bit ridiculous for a sandwich, but real sandwich lovers know what I mean. I’ve personally had the same sandwich order for 19 years and it has only gotten better.

I was down the street and very hungry so I searched “lunch” in my map and found this place. I’m so glad I did! I would have a picture to post, but the sandwich was so delicious that I ate it all before I could take a picture. As soon as I mentioned it was my first time, a very nice man gave me a thorough breakdown on how they make their sandwiches and what options were available. He helped me narrow down my choices and gave great suggestions. The service alone would have me come back here, but it’s also great the food is delicious and fresh. I’m so glad I found this place now! I can see why they’ve been in business for 50 years.

I had decided to get a couple of small sandwiches and I saw that San Antonio has a ThunderCloud Subs store. I went to the OG store in Austin many years ago and I got the New York Italian and Meatball subs as I was hungry and their sandwiches are delicious and very hearty. I was extremely impressed and satisfied with their food. They even have smoothies and a few vegetarian and vegan options also.

Literally never even heard of this place! I only came because of a doctors appointment nearby and I was hungry. I didn’t even know this brand existed. I got the Austin Club. The sandwiches here are reasonably priced with fresh ingredients! I also got the Sunrise smoothie! Never been to a sandwich place that had smoothies! I would certainly come back here again. It is good quality food!

1st time here. Fast friendly service and all I really wanted was a meatball sub and it totally hit the spot! I wish I would have gotten the name of the girl who made my sandwich, she was very sweet! (She was at the 1st station on the end of the counter where the line starts if that helps) I stopped by right around 1pm. Place was clean and employees were cheerful!

I literally haven’t been in here in over 20 years. I don’t know why I was stubborn about visiting but have been taking an interest in sandwiches lately. Soo many places have come and gone. Subway set up soo many locations, and then they went away. But this Thunder Cloud location has remained here since I was in school. I worked there briefly and enjoyed it. I never forgot how fresh the sandwiches tasted, and it hasn’t changed! I can’t wait to return and try another.
12/21/23, So my mom’s never tried TC before. I dropped in and purchased both a Big Paul and a NY Italian. Took them over and had her try half of each, and she really liked them a lot. I figured that’s a fun way to try something for the first time. Rather than all one flavor, try a hit of two really good sandwiches haha thanks for the great food and great service. My sandwich maker was working on both at once like it was just another day.

Fantastic sandwiches due to the effort they put into keeping everything fresh. Tomato and pickles were sliced fresh for each order, that alone makes the difference. My friend and I stopped here on the ways to the airport home from vacation, thank you for the perfect meal to get us home!

Quick and tasty. 10/10 would recommend. Parking is a little challenging, so we parked next door in the grocery parking, but service was great and the bread was so tasty! Generous with the avo too, I didn’t feel cheated on portion size.
