Amazing combination of flavors. Great food. Compared to other restaurants in the area it sticks out with more robust flavors. Incredible ambience. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and will be back

I truly cannot say enough amazing things about this Mexican restaurant. The food is absolutely phenomenal — authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
We ordered a variety to really get a feel for the menu: buche tacos, tripas tacos, and quesabirria tacos — and every single one was incredible. The meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, with amazing texture and bold, rich flavor. The quesabirria was especially a standout — crispy, cheesy, and packed with juicy, savory goodness.
We also had the pork burrito mix and carne asada y más, both generous in portion and full of fresh, vibrant flavor. Even the kids’ taquitos were a hit — which says a lot! And of course, we couldn’t skip dessert. The flan was smooth and perfectly sweet, and the fried ice cream was the perfect indulgent ending to an already fantastic meal.
Beyond the food, the staff is so kind, attentive, and welcoming. You can tell they truly care about their guests’ experience. We recently moved here from Denver and have been trying to find a place that gives us that same authentic, high-quality Mexican food we loved back home — and this is it.
This will absolutely be our go-to spot ✨

This place is not only expensive, but terrible! I went for lunch because it’s $13-17, dinner is $18-25!!!! Nachos are $20 on the dinner menu!!! The lunch was blah. I ordered a chile relleno and chimichanga. They didn’t smother it in anything. They both came out dry! What?! I appreciated the salad tomatoes and cheese they put in my chile relleno On their menu, it said their burritos were smothered in salsa?! Gross. I like a little salsa on a chip, but don’t want my meal smothered in it. No thanks. To be fair, there is not a good Mexican restaurant that I’ve found in this Valley. There are others that I’ve tried, that are worse than this in the Valley. That’s not saying a lot!

I had a mix up with my entree. I do not like “red sauce” at all. I ordered a Verde pork burrito plate and it came out with red sauce. I don’t like to make a fuss but no way was I going to eat it. I told the waiter I wanted green, Verde sauce. I think there was a slight language barrier.
Within 4 minutes I was served a new entree exactly as I ordered and it was delicious! I was impressed with how fast they corrected it. Can’t complain at all because it was Friday night and they were very busy!

I discovered another favorite! The margaritas, carne asada, and spicy verde salsa are so good!! The portions are huge, and I was too full to try their sopapillas. Don’t miss this place if you’re in the area .

We came here as a family for late lunch/dinner. We usually go to Fiesta Guadalajara in town but thought we would try this one this time. We started by ordering margaritas which are labeled as regular or jumbo. We just expected regular but our waitress asked “grande” which was confusing and we got huge margaritas that could’ve been shared so that was a convenient misunderstanding that led to an upcharge.
There was lots of rips on the booths which was off putting but could be ignored initially. However after a few moments of receiving our margaritas and some chips n salsa we noticed a cockroach on the wall which again we tried to ignore but it’s pretty gross honestly. We ordered food and it came out in a timely manner, the cockroach ended up coming over by us and my husband had to smash it with his hand and I had to wipe it off with one of our only napkins as we were trying to eat our food. At this point I’m pretty done but it’s too late we have our food and it is what it is. Nobody got sick or anything but I would not come back here. Cost $197 for an appetizer and four entrees and two margaritas.

Excellent place to dine in! Service is second to none. I compared it with Chick-fil-A service. They are so friendly and attentive. Very clean and colorful inside. Very good presentation and portions. Eduardo, server, other than handsome 🙂 was very efficient and friendly. If you’re on your way to Utah or coming back this will be the perfect place to stop for some tasty Mexican food.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to in the Grand Valley!

I recently visited El Tapito and had a mostly positive experience, though there were a few drawbacks. The quantity of food was fantastic—plenty for two people. I ordered the dinner fajita for two, which came with a generous portion of both steak and chicken, perfectly seasoned and served sizzling hot. The meat was tender, and the fajitas were accompanied by sautéed vegetables, tortillas, guacamole, and salsa, making for a well-rounded and flavorful meal.
However, the service was not up to par. Our server was neither friendly nor particularly attentive, which took away from the otherwise enjoyable experience. Despite this, the quality of the food was enough to make me consider returning.
Overall, I’d recommend El Tapito for the delicious fajitas, but I hope they improve the service to match the great food.

I had supper here after visiting the Colorado National Monument. It was a very hot August day but I walked next door and sat at the bar. Noah was the bartender and he quickly got me an ice cold bottle of Coors Light. I got the shredded beef burrito and it was delicious it came out hot and fast. If you are in Fruita I highly recommend this place I think four guys greeted me when I came in all very friendly and welcoming. All the employees were very nice and the food was delicious the beers were ice-cold what else could you ask for!
