Varsity Club was super yum! It has a fun atmosphere with a great menu and is definitely a spot worth checking out.
The drink selection was solid—good-sized pours, plenty on tap, and even more in bottles. We went for sandwiches, and the portions were huge! The fish sandwich, gyro tacos, turkey club, and El Capitan (a delicious burger with chorizo & jalapeño) were all fantastic. The sweet potato fries were a hit, and my steak salad was excellent… should have added fries!

To start things off, the employees were very nice both on the phone and when I came in to pick up my order. They were very understanding and helped me with an issue I was having with my card possibly being charged twice.
As for the food, the menu is absolutely massive with an overwhelming amount of tasty-sounding things to choose from; we settled on pizza and wings. The pizza sauce was nicely sweetened and when combined in synergy with the hot honey, it created a delightful savory/sweet combo. It was even more improved by the topping of grilled peppers and onions, forming an extra layer of caramelized flavor. I’ve never seen that topping offered before and I’m glad I went with it. I ate the entire thing in one sitting, too.
As for the wings, I highly recommend the raspberry-peach sauce. It’s a unique flavor combination and almost like a jelly in texture. The other flavor I got was mango habanero and you can’t go wrong with that one either. Just for fun, I also got a side of their hottest sauce, aptly named “Hurt Me”.
I try to make it a thing of sampling places hottest sauces. Now listen, I love my spice. I’m not one of those people who claims to like spice and then tears up when eating jalapeños. Habanero does pretty much nothing to me and ghost pepper is where things start to get spicy. I’ve done the “One Chip” challenge. I can handle my spice. That said, I met my match here. I took one tiny spoonful and my stomach immediately started doing somersaults and cramping. Massive props to whoever whipped this stuff up, as it’s very rare a place actually knows how to make things spicy.
Speaking of wings, both me and my girlfriend got a bonus one! Overall, the food was amazing and I wanna try so much more. The only downside was that it was quite expensive. A 14-inch pizza is $14 which isn’t good, but not awful. However, each of the toppings adds $2.50. I ended up paying over $91 for two pizzas and 22 wings (ordered 20). I’d probably give this place 4.5 stars for that, but that’s not an option so I’ll round up since I’m feeling nice and the food was phenomenal.
Update:
Decided to come back but dine-in this time. The turkey pesto panini was pretty good. The Giovanni was juicy but was lacking flavor. However, I added a bit of BBQ sauce and it fixed it right up. The pulled pork nachos were delicious, especially the pork itself; it was tender and flavorful. Fries are perfectly crispy as well.

Once again delicious. I can now recommend the honey garlic, Nashville hot, and Cajun wings as well. The sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar rock and so do the onion petals. Still so much more for me to explore here!

Really speaks to the consistency of this place that this is my fourth visit and it’s still great. The burger was cooked to perfection and the chicken parm sandwich was good too. A little on the salty side, but still full of flavor.

Must visit if you are a Mountaineer fan! The walls are covered with framed photos of famous WVU sports legends. The beer selection is great and served in the big goblet. Food is a variety of sandwiches, burgers and pizza along with salads. Don’t expect quick service when they are busy, you may wait up to an hour for your food. Just chill and try out another one of their many beers!

Varsity Club is the best place for a Hot Hoagie/Sub in Morgantown. That is because of quality and Variety. From their Baked Italiano with Porchetta or their hot pepper cheese steak, they pay attention to detail. The roll is reminiscent of something from New Jersey or Philly. It holds up to the sauces, cheese and meats. But, is not dense or too filling to where you cannot enjoy the sandwich. This passed time, I had the French dip with Horseradish sauce. It was very good. Stuffed with shaved prime rib with melted cheese and caramelized onions/mushrooms.

My Father and I were passing through after a job and found Varsity Club after checking out the stadium. I had the “Devil Anse” burger and it was exceptional, it comes with bourbon sauce that brings out a unique flavor with the burger as well.
Didn’t get a chance to try the French Dip Hoagie but if I am ever back here I will definitely give it a try.

Great hang out with solid food line up and why appears to be the most awesome location for WVU football game days. Came in on a rainy Monday and hung at the bar. Good size pours and a decent selection on tap with more in bottles. Both of us ordered sandwiches: big portions and really good! My Reuben was excellent – should have upgraded to the fries… Lots of sports pics, magazine covers and Mountaineer memorabilia. Bartender told us the owner played for WVU! This place would be off the hook for pre/post game.
