This place is still open but it’s not called “Shun’s Kitchen” anymore. It is under new management and has a new name called, “Zaku Japanese IzaKaya”. Service is good and they redecorated the inside and updated their decor. Their menu has changed completely. It is a bit smaller but with some original items from the old menu with the majority being all new items. The price has gotten a bit more from before but the ambience, service, good music and food is good. Would recommend anyone to come on in and give it a try. I know, I’ll be back from some of my regular and new fav dishes.

The food was quite good as was the service. Shout out to Peter. He was so nice and the food came really quickly. Favorite dishes: dumpling soup and 红烧肉.

I actually think that with a few updates to the decor, this could be such a destination and bring in way more people as a hangout spot.

Disappointed is an understatement. I came here a few years ago and remembered the food to be quite good, ordered the crispy duck ramen again and tried the mapo tofu and both were just horrible…

The mapo tofu was $16.95 and the only flavour was salt and oil. There was barely any pork and was so bland.

The crispy duck ramen ($19.95) was the one i was excited for since it was good when i had it a few years ago, but it was also terrible. The duck was crispy but very rough and dry, and clearly not fresh. The noodles were hard and soup also salty, the fish cake in the soup was spoiled and had a sour taste. When the Whole Foods ramen taste better than this it is a bad sign…

It should’ve been a red flag when we were the only asians in the establishment and their menu is all over the place (they have sushi, thai, chinese, cocktails..etc)

The service is also slow as there is only 1 server and the place is very dimly lit. We left still hungry and utterly disappointed for the price we paid.

Authentic Chinese restaurant
Dan Dan Noodles 5/5 – fried noodles with pork and spinach, they added spicy oil in the noodles, but it’s not that spicy
Hong Shao Rou 5/5 – super recommended pork dish!! One of my fav Chinese dishes it’s a must order
Fried Calamari 5/5
Boy Choy with Garlic 4/5
Overall it’s a 5 stars!! The price is a little higher but I’ll say it’s worth it. I recommended people order different dishes to share, and remember to order rice with it!

They call themselves pan Asian food. Though I am not sure about their Thai or Japanese food, but I can speak for the Chinese part. We tried bamboo rice and sour beef soup, both are authentic. Will come back again when I’m in the neighborhood. Plus their service is nice as well

Good food and $5 mai tais! You cannot find that anywhere in Boston! Food won’t disappoint you but not the greatest either.

Came on a Friday for lunch, we were seated promptly, but had to ask the server for the lunch menu. Ordered the Braised Beef Scallion Pancake to start with which was tasty, but a bit small. I ordered the Crispy duck ramen. The soup was tasty and the portions were good, but that’s about it. The noodles tasted stale and were clumped together, an indicator of some neglect in the kitchen. I’ve had fresher tasting ramen from Sun Ramen packs. The duck was dry and was probably microwaved, did retain some crispness though. Server was friendly enough, but did not stop by one to refill water. My recommendation: go to literally any other ramen place if you want good ramen

So on a layover felt like Chinese and googled this spot. 10/10 had the shrimp pad Thai and salt and chilli squid. Clap Clap Clap. Food was amazing, taste was top tier and it hit the spot. Thank you.
