Cafe Rio used to be one of my all-time favorite restaurants. However, today’s experience completely changed my opinion. I went here at 5:30 pm and I ordered a salad. However, right after I ordered it, the worker began putting in large chunks of lettuce WITHOUT even asking if I preferred it shredded. The lettuce pieces were so oversized that I couldn’t even fit one piece in my mouth. When I sat down to eat, I quickly realized the lettuce was in terrible condition. Many pieces were wilted, covered in black spots, and even had brown, watery residue on them. It was really unappetizing, and I couldn’t continue eating because I kept finding more spoiled lettuce every time I took a bit. Even I also found three large end parts of the lettuce in my salad that I can’t even eat. I spoke with the manager about it, but instead of addressing the issue seriously, she just offered to give me more lettuce without saying sorry. I declined because I didn’t want to receive the same poor-quality ingredients again. To make matters worse, it was very difficult to communicate with the workers, as most of them didn’t know how to speak English well. Overall, I was REALLY disappointed by both the quality of the food and the lack of proper customer service. This experience has completely changed how I feel about Cafe Rio, and I don’t think I’ll go this place again.

Don’t order online from this location. They don’t follow the order and don’t provide the complete portions. They skimp on serving a regular serving to save a buck, I’m not talking about a big back portion either.
Bought a pollo asado salad and they gave me about 6 small pieces of chicken—which I had to search for as well.

Ordered lunch online for pickup. I allowed 30 minutes from my pick up time to be to my appointment on time which was less than 5 minutes away from this location. I arrived on time, they had not even started my order. I had 16 people I didn’t know waiting for me to do a “ lunch and product knowledge” presentation. It was very embarrassing to be over 30 minutes late. Proteins were dry and looked like they had been sitting out. Sour crème was slopped on the items that it was requested on. Very disappointed by this experience.

The food was better and cheaper a decade ago. Now it’s nearly double the price, for less food and a worse quality. You’d be better off going to Beto’s or something.
Americans are struggling right now and this greedy corporation isn’t going to miss their window to nickel and dime us either. We won’t be back.
The queso I posted a picture of cost five whole dollars by the way. They used to (as in like a few months ago) give you double the queso.

I used to love Cafe Rio but not anymore. Last 3-4 times were very disappointing. Portions are smaller. Flavor and quality have gone down too. Big chunks of lettuce, dry chicken and sauce was flavorless. Service was not at par. I saw some other people complaining too. Seems like the corporate is cutting budget in the expense of customer satisfaction. I won’t come here again! BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

Today, I went to this location of cafe rio to get some food on my lunch break, I got a steak tostada and they served it half way. I asked if the tostada has gone smaller than usual and he ignored my questions, looked at me in an upset way, put my food on a bag and throw my order in the table. I asked the cashier who was next to him if that’s the normal way to do that/treat people? and if I saw wrong and he threw my food? He said “no no..I don’t think he did” and then he asked him why he did that. It was a very uncomfortable situation to be in. Cafe rio has been always a pleasant experience and I am big supporter of places with Hispanic influence. I hope the manager reviews this comments and reviews the behavior of this employee because it’s sad the fact that he treat me like that. I had my friends asking me if everything was okay

I usually love Café Rio, but this location was a huge disappointment . There were two employees in particular that made the experience really unpleasant. The guy working the meat station barely put any chicken in my bowl. When I politely asked for a little more, he smirked, added the tiniest piece possible, and then slammed my bowl down on the counter. On top of that, the chicken was cold .
The person I was with ordered steak, but they said they were out—even though it was only around 6 PM and they weren’t closing soon. They also weren’t making any more steak and claimed it would take over 30 minutes to cook, which didn’t seem accurate at all ⏰.
At the register, the employee didn’t say a single word other than the total. No greeting, no friendliness—nothing. It just felt awkward and unwelcoming .
They were also out of the limited drinks like the lemonade and horchata . We asked if they could be refilled, and while they eventually were, it took a very long time. The restaurant itself wasn’t very clean, and the portion sizes were noticeably smaller compared to other Café Rio locations.
Overall, this visit was really disappointing, especially since I normally enjoy Café Rio so much . I hope this location improves, because this experience definitely didn’t meet expectations.

My last visit at this location was disappointing. It wasn’t busy at all, employees were chitchatting and I was waiting in line to start my order. Fountain drink area was messy and the drink that I wanted was really water down, I let the guy that was in the register and he said he would change the syrup, I waited a couple of minutes and he didn’t take the time to change it, recalling that it was not busy at all. My order was to stay and eat there, during the time I sat down to eat my meal, the syrup was never changed, obviously I opted to get a different drink instead. The garbage can as full and I’m this picture, you can see it.
Now, whomever is responsible of checking these reviews, don’t hesitate to auto reply and write thank you for your feedback. I did fill out the form online and where it asks if you would like to be contacted about this issue, I selected yes and never have I heard back or been contacted. I also had a separate issue with another location (Bountiful) and same thing, I was never contacted to talk to someone about it. It definitely has to do with management at each location but at the end of the day, it supposed to be same across all locations, since it’s a franchise.
Food and service has changed over the years and it’s not the same as when there were only 2 to 3 locations in the State of Utah

I’ve really tried to give this location a chance since it’s the closest Cafe Rio to my work, but I’ve just had it today. Do not come here unless you’re vegetarian, or even if that since they skimp on lettuce. I ordered double meat on my salad and they literally put 2 bites of meat on my salad. It has been the same experience the past times I’ve visited.
If you like Cafe Rio, do not come to this location. It will disappoint you.
