I stopped in for lunch while traveling for work. What a pleasant surprise as i walked in and was greeted. The smell of bread and flavors from the kitchen got me excited for my lunch. The whole staff was friendly and the owner even stopped by my table and introduced himself. I will be sure to stop in for dinner next time as I hear the steaks are amazing.

We snagged a last-minute Friday night reservation at 5 PM, and from the start, the service was amazing. The staff was super friendly, and they were incredibly attentive—our water glasses never even got close to empty.
For starters, we had the crab cakes—not the freshest I’ve had, but still flavorful with a fun spin that made them enjoyable. The real MVP of the night? The Acumen Napa Valley Cabernet 2018. This wine was insanely smooth and balanced, making every sip a perfect pairing for our meal.
For mains, we got the Australian lamb chops (cooked beautifully to medium rare—juicy and flavorful) and the shrimp scampi with added roasted mushrooms, which was fresh, light, and seasoned quite well. We concluded the evening with a slice of lemon cream cake — a refreshing and flavorful way to end the meal, though not the most memorable dish of the night.
We spent about an hour and a half dining, and overall, Tuscan Moon is a fantastic choice for a solid meal with great service and delicious wine. Definitely worth coming back for!

I actually did not eat there, I just went in to check it out for a future visit to take my wife! But I did get a glimpse at the food which was served to others who were the enjoying it, and it looked great! The restaurant is so nice and decor is quaint and charming! Can’t wait to take my wife!

I always enjoy eating at Tuscan Moon. The staff are all very friendly and professional. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. I got the honey mustard chicken sandwich from the lunch menu and it was the perfect serving with the house made kettle chips. The prices were all very reasonable for lunch too.

This is a nice local grill with some delicious food. The waitress was very friendly and took our orders with a smile. We started off with a shrimp bruschetta as our appetizer, which was very fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, we did have to wait a very long time before our entrees come. I got the mushroom pasta, which was really delicious, although it needed a little bit more salt. Overall I had a great meal here and would love to stop by again in the future.

My wife had the lemon dill Alfredo linguine, and i had the garden salad with salmon. The salmon was pre-grilled and chilled. I nixed the raisins, and the salad was very taste. (So was my wife’s pasta.)
For dessert we shared slices of lemon and chocolate cake. These were delicious.
The neighboring farmers had recently fertilized with manure, so we got a real country experience.
2024: The Tuscan Moon is a solid restaurant with an Italian flare, tucked away in an out-of-the-way location, Kalona, IA.
We had a ‘couples’ date and shared our sides: golden mushrooms, buratta, and salad. I had the 8oz beef tenderloin, rare.
Everything was good.
We sat outside, and we were regularly pestered by flies, which was annoying. Not so much that we would have to move in doors, but enough to remember is 5 days later.
Considering the drive from Iowa City, I was hoping for something a bit more, but I can’t say what.

Night Wind
First time in a long time I’d had a patty melt with real caramelized onions and not just sauteed onions that were supposed to be caramelized. My parents love this place & a waitress named KarieKerryCarrie. They only get a chance to eat there a few times a year, always order the same thing & try to have her as their waitress each time. She remembers their order every time. It’s impressive!
Definitely a place to stop again!
