Restaurant was clean, service was fast and friendly, and food is good. It is also authentic Mexican! They have Jamaica, palletas, etc! I’ve been missing good Mexican food since moving home from Texas, and this place is it! I wish they made their sauces a little more spicy, but some people in the Midwest think mayo is spicy, so it is what it is. Highly recommend this place!!

We went for the 1st time on Saturday, and It’s our new favorite go to restaurant now. We will make many return trips. I had a kind of like sampler platter if you will. I don’t remember what it was called, but it had a little bit of everything, and it was absolutely amazing!! Loved it! My family got enchiladas, tacos, and chimichangas. Rice and beans came with all the meals, and my family, who usually never eats more than a bite, devoured them. The price per food portion was very fair. As a large family, we could afford it, and no one left hungry. We highly recommend this place.

What a great experience. When you first walk in they display a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The food was great. The restaurant seemed very clean. Mom and I shared a shrimp fajita and it came out sizzling hot. The rest of my family seemed pleased overall. When we first got there, I asked them if they did anything special for birthdays, since it was my son’s birthday and they did. They came out and sang and brought out my son a very nice birthday dessert. Thank you! I will definitely go back again.

This is our go to on Friday’s after a long week. We have been going since they opened. Service is perfect. The staff are amazing. And the food is fresh hot and delicious every time. The salsa is THE BEST.

Tried Amigo for the first time with a group of 6. Our waiter was very nice, funny, and accommodating. I would give them 3.5 stars out of 5

What we got:
• Carne Asada — it was pretty good, I’ll say the one thing is that it was not cooked to my liking but I understand that it’s hard to do when it’s so thin
• Steak Fajitas x2
• Texas Fajitas — not a single crumb was left
• Quesadilla — I don’t know why this meal was so sad looking compared to the rest of our meals LOL
• House Margarita on the rocks

We got a lot of food for our meals including the rice, beans, and lettuce that it comes with. I had a good time!

A Hidden Gem of Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Iowa

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Amigo Mexican restaurant tucked away in the heart of Iowa, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed by the vibrant and warm atmosphere that instantly made me feel at home. The décor, with its colorful Mexican art and traditional music playing softly in the background, set the perfect mood for what was to come.

The menu offers a fantastic array of authentic Mexican dishes, each one more tempting than the last. But what truly set Amigo Mexican Restaurant apart was the exceptional service. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made excellent recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was top-notch. The restaurant’s commitment to customer satisfaction was evident in every interaction.

Overall, Amigo Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem that brings the flavors and warmth of Mexico right to Iowa. Whether you’re looking for a casual night out, a family gathering, or just a place to enjoy some truly amazing food, this restaurant is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!

Amigo is now our go-to for margaritas. Fast friendly service, the food is great and reasonably priced. We have visited several times over the last few months and have never been disappointed with anything. **Update** If you like margaritas, you should try the “Margarona” at least once. It’s huge!

This place is incredible! Seriously they deserve thousands of five star reviews. They serve delicious food, huge portions and insanely low prices. If you haven’t ate here you’re missing out.

They served warm corn chips Woth homemade salsa. I ordered the cheese dip because, of course. The Mexicana Fajita enter was served in a siziling stone pot spilling over with shrimp, chicken, beef, chorizo, onions and peppers.

The portions were so huge. I have two more meals to take home. All this for $20!!

We love our Mexican and usually have our go to stop, but we decided to venture out on a Saturday evening and try something new. Reviews highly recommended Amigos so that’s where we headed. We were greeted when we walked in and realized the restaurant was full, so we asked to sit at the bar. We were seated and given menus, chips and salsa. There were so many great looking dishes and choices, but we knew right away for drinks we wanted a Michelada with Corona, and a Victoria along with queso and guacamole and two waters. We looked over the menu while we waited for the drinks and dips. It was quite extensive but sorted into categories that helped narrow it down.

The Victoria, water, guacamole and queso was brought almost immediately. The Michelada took a little longer for good reason… it was a work of art and something like I have never seen! I always order Michelada at Mexican restaurants but never had anything like this with so many fixings and such great flavor! I would come back just for this! We orders our entrees after receiving the drinks – the carnitas and the veggie quesadilla. It did not take long for the food to come out but we were enjoying the chips and dips and drinks so time wouldn’t have mattered. The carnitas were served with rice, beans, tortillas, and pico de gallo. The portion was very generous and the pork was tender, juicy and seasoned well. The quesadilla took up the plate it was so big and loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomato, cheese and had tomato, lettuce & sour cream on the side. Both meals were the best we have had at a Mexican establishment and portions were very very generous… definitely left overs going home for smother meal.

The service was fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the food and drink, and menu options outstanding. I think we have a new favorite weekly stop!

I love authentic Mexican food. After noticing the positive reviews, we decided to try the food. My group ordered the Shrimp Quesadilla and Beef Nachos. I ordered two small soft tacos without lettuce or tomatoes. Everyone agreed the food was greasy with a bland/weird tasting meat. The food did not taste like authentic mexican food. Additionally, the shrimp was undercooked with grease leaking from the filling (view the photo with the brown paper bag with drips of grease). Furthermore, we were charged for additional chips and salsa we never ordered/requested. I was unable to eat my soft tacos. Pretty much we wasted $34.00+ for food we were unable to eat. On a positive note, the customer service was pleasant as we placed our take-out order. Unfortunately, the food turned our first-time visiting experience into a last time visit.
