I stopped for lunch and we had hot and sour soup with the most beautiful mushrooms. They looked like a flowers. We also had the egg rolls, and scallion pancake. The main course was the beef chow foon, and fish fillet with vegetables. Everything was made fresh and tasteful. Service was excellent, very attentive and polite staff. Thank you!

Nestled in Boston’s historic Chinatown, Asian Garden is an authentic Chinese restaurant offering a diverse menu. I chose the duck with mushrooms and the B1 appetizer.

The food arrived quickly. The chicken wings were perfectly cooked and crispy, while the egg rolls and pork were decent. The duck was slightly dry but still enjoyable, complemented by flavorful mushrooms and sauce that tasted homemade and authentic.

Service was satisfactory, neither exceptional nor disappointing.

The total bill came to $55, reasonably priced.

We walked up on this place while taking a still through Bostons China Town. They were full but the staff was so friendly and welcoming they cleared us a table. The food was so tasty and filling. It was a nice meal to have to end the day

Our group had dinner at this restaurant last Sunday, ordering the coconut chicken along with some other cooked-to-order dishes.

At the time, the server told us the coconut chicken only needed to boil for 10 minutes. Some of us felt that wasn’t long enough, but we chose to trust the staff initially.

Two days later, many of us started experiencing diarrhea and fevers. Several people were subsequently diagnosed with what appears to be a Campylobacter infection. Since the most common cause of Campylobacter is undercooked chicken, we strongly suspect the coconut chicken was the culprit.

I hope you stop sacrificing guest health just to increase table turnover and service speed. I also advise other customers that if you must eat here, please let the chicken stew for a while longer. If they still insist on only 10 minutes, I suggest blacklisting this place entirely.

I’m angry

really enjoy the food here, especially the Coconut Chicken (椰子雞) it’s delicious. However, the owners can be a bit careless and unfriendly. When they opened the lid of the chicken soup, they accidentally spilled some onto my friend’s hand. They apologized, but it didn’t feel very sincere. The food is great, but I wish the service were warmer and more considerate.

Cheap and convenient! I came here thanks to a local nift deal I had with a friend and was seated immediately. There weren’t too many people inside.

Food: We got the beef chow fun and also the Mac and cheese with milk tea and also the tofu. I thought that the food was quite standard Chinese food and nothing too special. Wouldn’t recommend the Mac and cheese special though.

Service: The waiters were extremely kind and helpful! I was surprised, maybe because we were one of the few customers there. Food also came super quickly!

Ambiance: Very causal. It’s a little bit dirty inside.

Overall might not come again unless I had another nift deal!

I got some takeout from here through GrubHub. The order was ready promptly when I got there to pick up. I had ordered some noodles with broccoli and beef. It tasted good but the noodles were not what I was expecting at all. They tasted better when I ate the rest for leftovers the next day. The crab rangoons were great!

I’m writing this because I’m honestly shocked and worried. My sister ate here a few days ago and ordered the coconut chicken, and by the next morning, she was incredibly sick with food poisoning. It turns out the chicken was undercooked.

It’s been a nightmare, she had to go to the hospital all by herself while she was sick. I’m stuck over in New Zealand and couldn’t even be there to help her, which has been so stressful.

Please, if you eat here, be really careful and check your food. Serving raw chicken is so dangerous and I really hope the restaurant takes this seriously before someone else ends up in the hospital like my sister did.

An authentic Chinese—specifically Cantonese—restaurant that could be hard for non-Chinese to navigate/adapt to.

Tip for non-Chinese adventurers: just order their Coconut Chicken pot. It’s a $49 non-spicy hot pot full of aromatic coconut water-based chicken broth that’s good for 2-3 people. (Of course you probably need to add a few other vegetables/tofu topping for dietary fibers and carbs).

But if you ever seek a comforting broth to sip on on a windy cold day, this restaurant is one of the few places in downtown Boston that serves this dish other than your Chinese friends’ own home.

$49 is not exactly so cheap for a pot dish, but if you were to try replicate this dish, you’d realize how much it costs just for the ingredients—a full pot of real coconut water (easily $20), fresh coconut meat (a $5 coconut & the hassle of opening it), a fresh half chicken, and some spices (goji berries, jojobas, etc.).

Plus the Chinese ladies who work there are passionate and warm-hearted to tell you how she’d eat the dish and guide you along the way—quite a bit of sharing while you eat which I find endearing but certainly can be annoying for some people.

This restaurant also has alive fishes that they cook to order and to your preference (typically minced garlic, preserved soy beans, or salted fried).

However, words has it that their line can get long for dinner, so if possible, lunch will be a better time to visit them. Also, their environment is not entirely up to the standard of their pricing range, so one star deducted for warning purposes.

All in all, the Asian Garden is a decent Chinese restaurant authentic to the bone and only recommended to natives or open-minded explorers up for an non-Americanized dining experience.

I ordered sweet and sour chicken with Yang chow fried rice and they were both very delicious. Food came out super quick. There were hotpot options that we’ll try in the future.
