We ordered a cake for our son’s rehearsal dinner festivities, and it was absolutely perfect. While we were there, we also enjoyed a wonderful Bloody Mary. The staff was courteous and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The lunch menu appeared quite appealing, and we are eagerly anticipating our return to sample it.

My husband and I have been going to Bittersweet for years (we used to work right next door). Amazing coffee and pastries/food! We always get Bittersweet cupcakes for every birthday. WHen we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted Bittersweet to be a part of it. Sheryl and Avery were amazing from start to finish! They made sure we got exactly what we wanted and the cake was absolutely beautiful! Everyone raved about the flavors (almond with lemon icing, strawberry with vanilla icing, and red velvet with cream cheese–YUM!) and every single piece was gone by the end of the night. They even helped us when ordering some favors for our rehearsal dinner. The entire process was easy and stress free. Sheryl and Avery treated us like we were family and I just don’t think you will get that anywhere else. 10/10, will continue to give this amazing shop our business!

I ordered a cake from them for my sister’s 30th birthday and it was so good! A big hit with everyone and had multiple people say it was the best red velvet cake they’d ever had.

The online order form was super easy and they had the cake ready at the correct time and wrapped perfectly for me to be able to take it home without any issues. Highly recommend!

I am a self-proclaimed cake connoisseur and this bakery exceeds expectations! I love their assortment but specifically their funfetti flavor.
I have purchased cupcakes many times and went for a larger cake a few months ago.
Whatever your flavor, they have it and will make it delicious!

Had adorable experience visiting Bittersweet Confections during my vacation trip to NOLA. I read great reviews and happen to walk down on Christmas Eve to get a cake for my wife’s birthday. The experience and satisfaction exceeded my expectations and couldn’t thank enough for the wonderful gesture from the time I greeted and taking care of my need in offering candle and matches. Couldn’t be more merrier during the Christmas season. The store was so well organized and esthetic.

We couldn’t have been more happy and satisfied with our wedding cake from Bittersweet. They were very easy and pleasant to work with. The cake was beautiful to look at and the taste was even better than the visual look. Rich, bold and memorable flavors with delicate piping/filling work that require a high degree of skill. On top of all that they were able to turn our order around in a very short notice (right around a month.) We can’t recommend them enough

I love the Yelp events where you have week to take part. Visited one Friday during lunch and enjoyed the Classic Breakfast with eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. The plate did not disappoint as I sat and enjoy my breakfast while finishing up some last minute work. I purchased some freshly squeezed satsuma juice and two petit fours to take along with my complimentary cupcake. Let me just say, those petit fours were the best from a bakery I have ever had. I am not a sweets fan, but these had just the right amount of sweetness, they were moist and I loved the size of them. This is a great spot to come grab lunch and finish up some work, or catch up with friends. There is plenty seating inside, as well as some seating outside. Located downtown, there is only street parking, but if you are in the area, stop in for a sweet treat.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I made a pick up order for a cake for 2 MALE attorneys who just passed the bar exam. I SPECIFIED THAT THEY ARE MEN. The cake I received was a pink cake with florals and SLOPPY handwriting. It was so ugly. Why in the hell would I give 2 men a pink cake ?? They also made some letters capitalized and some lowercase. Makes no sense. Then I asked the manager to rectify the situation by comping a sandwich for me while I wait 30 mins PAST the time it was supposed to be ready. Essentially wasting my lunch break ! The manager refused to comp my lunch. I will never go back there again. The customer service is HORRIBLE. I wouldn’t even buy my dogs birthday cake here much less a human. They made it with no care. So they will never see me again. They take no accountability. HORRIBLE.

Life has its bittersweet moments, and I’ve found one of the sweetest right here on Magazine Street. I’m in New Orleans for medical treatment for the next several months, and while my journey hasn’t been the easiest, I’ve discovered that kindness can be as comforting as chocolate.

A few dear friends ordered a dozen cupcakes from Bittersweet Confections, and when one of the owners, Cheryl, heard I was sick, she personally added me to their delivery route, just because. I can’t promise that kind of door to door service for everyone (I happened to live a few blocks away), but the gesture itself meant more than words can say.

I opted to pick them up and eventually, I ventured out for some fresh air and walked to the shop myself. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the kind of place where you instantly feel like a regular. Jake and Grace treated me (and everyone else) with genuine Southern hospitality. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in every cup of coffee and crumb of cake.

Now, technically, sweets are off limits for me right now but let’s just say resistance crumbled after one look at their cupcakes. I took a few bites of the Red Velvet and chocolate with a coconut frosting, and they were so good. The rest I shared with my nurses, who agreed that Bittersweet’s confections are pure medicine for the soul.

For now, I’m savoring the occasional breakfast and the comforting smiles that come with it. When I finish my treatment, you can bet I’ll be celebrating here one perfectly sweet bite at a time.

Bittersweet Confections is more than a bakery, it’s a reminder that kindness and connection are the sweetest things of all.

I got my wedding cake from here and they were very accommodating to alter my cake based off the price range I gave. The taste of this cake was really outstanding. Most wedding cakes I find dry but this one was moist and delicious! I highly recommend using them, they’re the very best!
