3 of us went to the Flyin Fin later on a Sunday evening [~7:45p]. Ive been wanting to come here for over 10 yrs, but because of other circumstances, and that my residence is over 1500mi away… its been a rare occassion that puts me in a spot to be able to come here. Well.. the wait is over. Tonight there was no wait to be seated but It was busy, not crowded, with a fair number of patrons both outside and in. I took it as a good sign its still busy at 7:45p on a Sunday. Friendly greeting, friendly and very helpful staff. We ordered 3 rolls the staff recommened for us based on what we liked: (the flying fin, absolutely amazing, and the mega omega), a couple of beers (sapporo and kirin) and also a blue fin toro sashimi. The service, the presentation, and the food were all incredible, and i will try to come back again on this trip before i depart the area again.

Update: we were able to return, same great service, atmosphere, and wonderful food and experience.

Definitely the best sushi spot I tried in the Redondo Beach/Palos Verdes/Torrance area. Make sure you try the Flyin Fin roll and the Absolutely Amazing roll, they are extremely delicious!

“Sushi With Attitude and lil Jennifer — and Service With a Spark”

Walked through the doors expecting decent sushi. Left convinced I’d just stepped out of a culinary love story.

The place had that quiet confidence — no gimmicks, no neon chaos. Just craftsmanship humming under the lights.

The air smelled of soy, citrus, and perfection. You can tell when a kitchen’s in rhythm. This one was singing.

Then came the greeting — Jennifer. Calm, radiant, and professional to the bone. She didn’t just welcome me; she anchored the evening.

I thought I came hungry for sushi, but apparently, I came for an experience. And Jennifer orchestrated it like a conductor with chopsticks.

Started with the Pennnato Sushi — soft texture, elegant balance, melt-in-your-mouth precision. The sort of bite that makes you whisper an apology to every bad sushi you’ve ever eaten.

Presentation? Absolute art. Each piece looked sculpted by a samurai with OCD.

Jennifer approached with the kind of grace that makes time slow down. Perfect timing — not too soon, never too late.

She suggested the Top Secret Roll next. When a server recommends something with that much quiet confidence, you listen.

One bite in — fireworks. Layers of flavor moving like a damn orchestra: spice, sweetness, silk-smooth fish, crunch for rhythm. Bloody magnificent.

I asked her what was in it. She smiled — mysterious — said, “It’s a secret.” That’s when I realized this meal had layers beyond the plate.

The O Crab Sushi arrived golden and proud. Crunchy exterior, creamy heart, flavor bold enough to grab you by the collar.

Each bite was confidence wrapped in seaweed. Whoever engineered that roll deserves a handshake from God himself.

Jennifer refilled my tea — smooth, effortless — the kind of service you don’t teach; it’s instinct.

Then the Rainbow Roll landed. Color that could make a painter cry. Taste that could make a chef retire.

The way the fish layered — tuna, salmon, shrimp — was like a conversation of textures. Harmony on a plate.

Every roll came out picture-perfect. Not a grain of rice out of place. That’s discipline. That’s pride.

Jennifer glided by again — that calm energy that holds a room together. Professional yet warm. She didn’t just serve; she read the rhythm.

You know a great waiter when they can predict your thoughts. She did that all night. Needed soy? There it was. Napkin? Appeared like magic.

The restaurant pulsed with quiet confidence — chefs focused, guests happy, music low enough to talk but high enough to feel.

There’s this moment halfway through the meal when you realize — you’re not just eating; you’re witnessing craftsmanship.

And every time she checked in, that spark of care in her eyes reminded me that great service is as important as great sushi.

The Top Secret Roll lingered in my memory — spicy finish, silky middle, crisp afterthought. Like a story told perfectly.

The kitchen nailed every texture — cold fish, warm rice, crunch, cream, balance. That’s a chef who gives a damn.

But here’s what sealed the night — Jennifer’s consistency. Every guest, same grace, same poise, same professional charm.

There’s power in details. The subtle smile, the confident step, the perfect pace. She turned dinner into an art form.

By dessert, I wasn’t even hungry — but I stayed. The energy in the room was addictive. Mochi sweet, tea warm, vibe immaculate.

Leaving, I realized the meal was flawless, but what made it unforgettable was how it felt. Calm, effortless, alive.

Food this good doesn’t just fill you; it moves you. And service like that doesn’t fade when you walk out the door.

To the chef — bravo. To the team — respect. And to Jennifer — if excellence had a face, it would be yours. I’ll be back, and next time, I’m ordering the Top Secret Roll twice.

I had the sushi platter here with my friend. The food was ok. The salmon was a tad bit fishy and slimy. The rolls were ok.

The staff was ok in checking in with us but seemed too busy because of the volume of people both inside and outside.

The decor was very much not memorable. Basic white white decor that looks clean and safe.

I’m surprised with the quality given this place is related to dashi dashi and that place seems so much better.

Flying Fin is a great sushi place right in the heart of the Riv.. with the outdoor dining on the street and a lively indoor bar area. The menu has many of the typical items but there are some nice special rolls and dishes you won’t find elsewhere. Service is friendly and fast.. they are busy and tend to be pretty crowded at peak times… and friends you want a BUSY sushi place.. that means they sell through the fish constantly and it is always fresh. We have dined here countless times and we always enjoy it.. making it one of our favorite sushi spots in the area. Parking is parking… plan accordingly.. bring your feet and some quarters.

Nice outdoors seating on a good day. Had 2 rolls and 2 “carpaccio”. Rolls were ok but had better in the area. The albacore with onion was a definite pass, it did not work at all imo. The snapper was delicious, light and refreshing flavor.

Food was wonderful, though slightly pricey (isn’t sushi always pricey?). Service was friendly and attentive, and they have a nice seating area out on the sidewalk with heaters so you can enjoy a cool southern California evening.

While the sushi is consistently awesome, I spent over $100 for a delivery order and received ZERO chopstick, napkins, soy, wasabi or ginger. I expect better. Not a good experience as we had to improvise and not what we expected for $100+ spent…

Best sushi rolls in all of Los Angeles. We always love the top secret roll which is the daily chef creation. The pornado isn’t my favorite roll, but it’s a must have for the experience . All of the sushi here is inventive, creative and unique. Highly recommend. They also have an insane happy hour!! Buy a roll get a roll 50% off and it’s on weeknights but also from 12-5pm on Saturday and Sunday making it the perfect sushi lunch place on the weekends!!! I drive 40 minutes to eat here, that’s how good it is.

First time here, outdoor seating is preferred. Indoor is a little dark and loud.
This is my new favorite sushi place! Really unique offering on rolls (loved the pickled jalapeño in the Medusa Madness!), miso soup was excellent w/ fresh seaweed and firecracker tuna app was great!
We didn’t wait long to sit and the service was attentive and quick. Can ask for more than that!
